MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

Mitzy is there any talk of this brokers note being re -drafted?, just wondered if the new version from Peel Hunt was out and causing the problems today. I no longer go on advfn.

cheers GF.

GF apparently its a 5 page sell note with same target of 40p.
It is now non libellous and much revised apart from the conclusion.
Highlights appreciated if anyone has seen a copy.

GF, apparently the broker's sticking to his guns even after meeting up with the directors which is probably reflected in the way the price has dropped this morning. Looks like meeting up with PH has done more damage than good at present.

I'm still holding on here - only just hanging onto a small profit as I bought in three tranches, two of which are now above the SP - as the reasons for investing in the first place were the amount of potential news due out this year and not just the Genvex results.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I cant help thinking that Peel Hunt are in the same league as EK and his gang but even so 40p is a ridiculous figure..

mickeyskint - 08 Apr 2005 11:46 - 1098 of 2444

I'm in for the long haul. Perhaps the broker who wrote the note is a big mate of EK. After all insider dealing doesn't exsist does it?

Cheers Guys. I rate both Evil K and Mike Walters but didnt rate this analyst after his first attempt. If the conclusion is the same hes still talking hog wash.

cheers GF.

We're on a big roller-coaster ride.

hlyeo98 - 08 Apr 2005 13:57 - 1104 of 2444

There is no doubt MMG is clearly oversold. Now 166p.

jimmy b - 08 Apr 2005 13:58 - 1105 of 2444

How much further can this fall,,???im thinking of getting back in ..

swseun - 08 Apr 2005 13:58 - 1106 of 2444

I was in at high price, now I lost 1/3 of the whole, I am stuggling if I should hold/ stop loss.. :-( .. any opinion is welcome and many thanks.

hlyeo98 - 08 Apr 2005 14:11 - 1107 of 2444

I think MMG is a hold in the long-run.

Chiva20 - 08 Apr 2005 14:17 - 1108 of 2444

Wow, this has really dropped like a lead balloon. Great buying opportunity, I was going to jump in at 180 but blinked and that's gone .. timing ..I reckon Monday we'll be back above 200 its way oversold.

mickeyskint - 08 Apr 2005 14:29 - 1109 of 2444

Topped up at 171. This has got to be a buying opp. Go for it.

Hope you're right Chiva but I'm watching. It is over a quid below where I took over 200% profits and also below my first batch of profits at 180p. Unbelieveable!! The shorters have got this by the sort & curlies and I would rather wait and see where it ends than undo my good progress this year.
SEO or MMG? Both my tips for 2005 but SEO seems better right now and I am adding there. MMG was too high on Genvax alone, rest is speculation on Ruthenium and potential deals with pharmas. Long-term still a good story but where to buy right now?

rob308 - 08 Apr 2005 14:32 - 1111 of 2444

sensible post andysmith......... i was ranting that 250 was a great buying opportunity a week ago
cheers. rob

Chiva20 - 08 Apr 2005 14:43 - 1112 of 2444

Bought in at 176, couldn't resist it's got too rally.

andysmith - 08 Apr 2005 15:00 - 1113 of 2444

Brave move. Hope you are successful. Shorters will be triggering stop-losses all over the place, in turn triggering more plus panic selling. For once glad to be on the side-lines with MMG though I am bound to get back in when the dust has settled.
