I'm looking to do same, Lancslad... The Dell 18" screens look good value. Broght thread to top..

Spaceman - 02 Dec 2003 16:13 - 1095 of 11003

LL/d2k, 2 computers sharing a broadband link is fine as long as you are not using AOL.

You need a bit of kit to setup but its cheapish and works well.

hi

can anyone help. i subscribe to iqcharts - a realtime charting package for US stocks downloaded from www.iqchart.com . This software has been working fine until the other day when i was looking at the charts and i think i accidently hit a key on the keyboard and the the charts disappeared. The problem is that when i now click on the icon and type my username and password i get the message 'you are now viewing real time data' as per usual, but cannot see the charts. i dont know whether its running in the background or wot. ive tried removing the program and re dowloading it. i still cannot see the charts. the username and password are correct because i have it downloaded on my works computer, which works fine.

can anyone help?

Spaceman - 07 Dec 2003 23:35 - 1102 of 11003

LL try searching www.ebuyer.co.uk for 'quickfind code' 48449 thats should get it, its a 4 port ADSL modem Router and costs 46.99 inc VAT.

Spaceman - 07 Dec 2003 23:38 - 1103 of 11003

Sarj, its hard to know the answer to this without knowing the package, however I think you may have used some sort of keyboard combination that has minimised or hidden the output windows, I know you have reinstalled but some programs retain user settings even when uninstalled and reinstalled. Is there a Windows option in the menu at the top of the screen that opens? if so does it have an option to cascade or maximise windows?

Lancslad - 07 Dec 2003 23:40 - 1104 of 11003

ps: thanking u in advance

Spaceman - 08 Dec 2003 16:40 - 1106 of 11003

zarif you need to host them somewhere and then insert a link to them in your posting, you cant actually insert graphics directly into threads as far as I know. Do you have a website you can put them on?

zarif - 08 Dec 2003 16:47 - 1107 of 11003

Spaceman - no i dont have a website.

Kayak - 08 Dec 2003 17:15 - 1108 of 11003

zarif, you probably get some free webspace with your ISP, it's worth looking up the instructions on using it, it is reasonably straightforward once you know how.

DocProc - 08 Dec 2003 17:36 - 1109 of 11003

Zarif

When one puts a picture on here on on the Investor's BB, the HTML command is typed out so that it says:-

Post a picture on here which has the Internet Address [URL] Property link of "blahblahblah".

For instance, if you "Right Click" on the button just above the "Post an article on this topic" box - the one that is dark blue and says "Back to list", then up will pop a window. If you look at the bottom of this little window you will see "Properties".

Left Click on "Properties" and you will see another pop up window telling you that the button's URL Adress is

http://www.moneyam.com/TradersRoom/images/backtolist.gif

Now this URL Address is the "blahblahblah" bit we want to make our HTML link command with.

The way you write the command is as follows:-

&ltIMG SRC="blahblahblah"&gt

So, I'm sure you get the idea to substitute the "blahblahblah" with

http://www.moneyam.com/TradersRoom/images/backtolist.gif

Actually, all this HTML is done automatically for you where it says in the "link" box below the "Post an article on this topic". All you have to do is place the URL Address of the image in this box and click on the command "insert image link" and 'lo and behold'...........thus:-

backtolist.gif

The main thing is that ALL THE IMAGES HAVE TO BE ON THE INTERNET and not on your own computer. I'm sure you now understand why. :-)

Notice how my button is only a button picture and not a working button.

DocProc - 08 Dec 2003 23:50 - 1112 of 11003

Zarif

I guess the URL adddress of your picture is

http://www.chartsedge.com/g120603.gif

So I'm merely going to put that address in the link box below and then click on the Post Reply button, leaving my cursor on the next line to indicate exactly where I want the image to be placed.

Ian - Same result after rebooting - does this lot from the java console mean anything to you? Do I have to reload java or something? L2 seems ok.
