I wonder if there are any fans of covered warrants on here ?
Be a great place to exchange ideas on which covered warrants are potential plays as a longer term hedge, also possible straddle plays, and also ones that could perhaps be due for a sprint for rational reasons (and not wishful thinking !!).
Needless to say,no one should touch these unless they have read up on them and fully understand how risky they are.
(At www.warrants.com/uk you can get a free introductory guide by post .)
Anyway, should there be any fans here, pull up a chair as it were, and lets share some ideas over a frothy one !

I have traded SG CWs for about 18 months now. I use Comdirect who are pretty good with 12.5 /trade or 10/trade if over 100 trades/quater. (thoughthey don't advertise this.
But i am getting increasingly frustrated with the SG price feed dropping out at vital moments where it is necessary to trade on a trend reversal.
I use SG CWs on Cable Brent and Gold mainly.
anyone else having these problems and can they tell me if trading wiht GS is any better than SG and also which dealer do you use?
Cheers

I trade SG and GS via etrade - 10 a pop. Sometimes it seems that there are not the trades around that you want in the CW market. I'm looking at going long silver and short the Nasdaq at present - also I think euro/dollar looks good.

Went long on EUR/USD last thurs and it did well until today, now its faded.
Lost a bit going long on silver end of last week.
Have gone short on DOW today, mistake, still I may hang on til mid week.
I akways look at the live prices on the SG site @ http://uk.warrants.com/members/quotes/realtime.php but find they are about 2 secs behind the Comdirect price.
The best bit is that the SG brent oil warrant prices are about 1-2 mins behind the Brent spot price so if you watch it, you can get in or out in time.
How do you find GS vs SG?
I could not find live warrant prices on the GS site do they exist?
I have practiced spread bet trading but so far I prefer to loose only what I put in so warrants are a lot safer.
Finally where is the warrants page on MoneyAM?
cheers rpa

long time since anyone.......
but lets have a go now to see if there is any interest.
just bought some sx77 - soc gen ftse 100 covered warrants, the call variety
strike price 6400 expiry 16/12/11 @10.94p
reason; its insurance-just in case this turns out to be a short term correction.
if that is so, then a bounce back to 5900-6000 could be quite rapid.
if, on the other hand, 5600 goes, then i'll be out....
