I thought Planestation fans should have the benefit of a fine piece of research showing Manston freight figures courtesy of the CAA website.

October 2003 - 4833 tonnes, October 2002 - 2632 tonnes

Manston had a total of 1875 aircraft movement during October 2003.
Monthly freight figures for 2003, compared with the same month in 2002, show the following variations:

Jan -15%
Feb +11%
Mar +17%
Apr +43%
May +52%
Jun +23%
Jul +18%
Aug +65%
Sep +78%
Oct +84%

Is PTG the correct EPIC?

On other sites it is WGG.

This site won't display charts for PTG other sites do under WGG

It changed today, some other sites have not caught up yet. It is confusing, dear old Wiggins has been the bottom line on my portfolio for so long. It just isn't right that it now appears in the middle.

Also PTG used to belong to a different company that went out in 2002, allegedly. Some sites are still showing their old charts.

Socrates has started a new thread, shall we all use that one? Seems like the right time for a new start.

B16 was an aircraft, was there a Canberra?? aircraft,.......... and lightning was an aircraft???

Socrates - 10 Jan 2004 14:07 - 19 of 31

Well we'll all have to guess won't we because I can prove he is not lightning.

Palwing - 10 Jan 2004 16:21 - 20 of 31

Canberra B16??...that has just GOT to be RW..although I reckon the closest he got to one was in training most prob. (grin)

Well..would you let a guy who has to always keep one foot on the ground service YOUR aircraft? Especially a "plumber"
acanbera.jpg Originally the English Electric A1 Canberra was conceived to be strong and simple, and this has resulted in an aircraft which still flies today, having gone through numerous changes along the way. Mks include: B2, PR2, T4, B6, PR7, B(I)8, PR9, E15, B16, T17, TT18 & T19. The Canberra was the RAF's first jet bomber, and has since become its most versatile servant. It reached its 50th birthday in 1999.

Now if you want to talk about REAL aircraft??

I love the picture of "Fat Albert", see them every day here. Why so small a picture of the Vulcan B2, and no Lightning!

Canberra BI6 - 10 Jan 2004 17:02 - 22 of 31

I knew palwing would be there, now come on I served on 213Sqn BI6 Canberra's at Laarbruch and flew back in one from Akrotiri laying down in the Bomb Aimers position in the glass nose. There was another four in the cockpit, one on the rumble seat on the door and the other three lucky ones were on bang seats, Martin Baker Mk1's.

Looking forward to brousing the Thread next week.

Palwing - 10 Jan 2004 19:26 - 25 of 31

RW... Lucky ones on bang seats?? Did you sevice them? (grin) Think I would take my chances out the door!

mbhead.gifAMXBiasus_tn.jpgApologies to the rest of the board for the "Off Topic" stuff..normal service will be resumed after this post. Apologies again...

brainybingo - 10 Jan 2004 20:00 - 26 of 31

My best man was a technician on Lightnings at Binbrook, Mick Cox about 28 years ago. I,ve actually sat in the driving seat!!

brianboru - 10 Jan 2004 20:09 - 27 of 31

Ahh Lightnings - I once lived in a hut at the end of Bahrains runway - When the lightnings took off to go back to Cyprus after a visit they used to head straight up for the sun right above our abode - so much noise and vibration that all the books would fall off my bookshelf!

Was part of a Forward air control team out there talking Hunter Hawks on to ground targets - Fun times !

upanddown - 10 Jan 2004 20:19 - 28 of 31

Used to watch Lightnings take off from RAF Laarbruch in 1976 fantastic flames coming from burners on take off.

Socrates - 10 Jan 2004 20:42 - 29 of 31

Thanks Pal, brought tears to my eyes, that was my Squadron in the photo. Nearest to Lyneham but see lots of "Fat Alberts" on flight path to Brize.

Canberra BI6 - 11 Jan 2004 08:03 - 30 of 31

brainybingo, correct.

Binbrook, happy memories 1963 worked on Stn Flt Meteors first, then 85Sqn Canberra's and finally DFDS Lightnings. Enough moves I can hear you say, well my expertise was required by all and sundry!!!!!!!.

Enough is enough, down to the serious side of PTG. Now that we have Ambrose on board my guess we will witness more arse kicking at MSE too encourage further the developement of the cargo business into Manston. As long as he has the free rein then there should be some improvement over the course of the year.
