My daughter Francesca Berlin's debut single is to be released on 26th June 2006 by Moon Records UK.
Francesca has written a song about Eva Cassidy. Francesca's local fan base should hopefully ensure the song gets in the national charts in week one. There has already been a lot of local publicity about Francesca.

Just to add to Howards comments he asked me if he could post details of Francesca's single a few months ago and we are very happy to support them. Very many Moneyam users have been following Francesca's career for some years and they are very keen she succeeds.

Britshare, with all due respect, I know Howard personally and know all the hard work etc that has gone into getting this deal,do you know how hard it is to get into this buisness?

I think she should drop the name Berlin and just call herself Francesca .

aldwickk,i would agree with you,i understand there is a possible link in the name to Irvin Berlin or what ever his name is !!! but we are in 2006 and i dont think youngsters of today have any clue who he was and that he was a musical genius,all they want is a easy name to remember,there is a possibility that the name is already being used by a singer at the moment if that is the case that is the reason they have added the Berlin bit at the end !!!This is only my opinion and i possibly dont know all the facts ???

Well I see on her sight she signs herself FranKee on her site so perhaps that will be the "name" in the end.

Having played in bands since the late sixties, in all sorts of venues from crappie pubs, clubs, holiday camps, dance halls and 1 stadium both here and abroad, I know the journey Francesca is about to take. It will be full of broken promises, false hope, despair and lies. BUT if she can get through all that then she will enjoy complete satisfaction, absolute joy and a fantastic sence of achivement. Use the best musicians available and go for it. It's all about soul which Eva had by the bucket full, just watch out for the sharks.

Interesting comments about Francesca's name.

To start with Francesca is using her real name. Her friends call her Francesca or Frankee.

We have thought about what name to use and someone mentioned Irving Berlin.

My grandfather was born in a village in Russia which was very close to where Irving Berlin was born. If you look at a photo of Irving Berlin and my grandfather they look very similar. My father did some research (when he was alive) and so have I and it seems we are distantly related. Our local newspaper has run this story a few times when they have done articles on Francesca. They picked up on this before Francesca started to sing. The story started when Francesca won a junior chess tournament at the age of 5. She gave up up 12 to concentrate on music and dancing after winning the British Girls Chess Championships in 2000 (actually joint winner).

Anyhow, as Berlin is a famous name we feel its best to stick with Francesca's real name.

And why not, sounds good to me.

Regards the name, one poster pointed out that Ivring Berlin would not be well known among pop fans, and it doesn't sound right somehow.

There is a pop singer with the name of Frankee so that was not considered a good idea.

The decision on name was decided by Francesca. There also was a band with the name Berlin.
