Further to 5 enquiries re: past golfing threads plus 3 requests for me to start a new one, just thought I would get the ball rolling pre-Xmas as the long winter nights draw in. So, now let us talk amongst ourselves about ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING CONCERNING the wonderful pastime of: GOLF.

Herewith I start this in good nature to encourage "friendly banter" devoid of hostility amongst fellow golfers: whether they be Pro's, Category One players, average club players, high handicappers or even weekend hackers! Let's all have a friendly chat here...

last of my winter league group matches on friday ..... a half will prob do to get me play off but would obviously much rather win ... at least still on proper tees and greens (mortals course!)

We are also generally in play down in Kent. Saturday was only 8 holes open so put off knock out 4BBB semi-final due for Sunday until this Sunday. Of course, there was a drying wind and all the holes were open on Sunday. Not bad for a couple of rather old vets to be in the semi-final anyway! Eric

very frosty here but ground still far from frozen...... may require some careful thought and patience tomorrow, neither of which are my forte!

Bloody cold today, Fliper! Super yesterday though and found some decent shots. Went down in the semi-final of the 4bbb last Sunday - opponents two under gross at the turn with bb 28 points; reckon though its better to lose to opponents paying really well than badly. Eric

Eric, you will get this kind of score in winter on a short course. Roll on summer , back tees and courses playing long .

our golfing society are off to the lake district later in the year. Any recomendations greatly received. Silloth looks good, anyone played there??

Hi Fliper. Had a layer yesterday but disappeared by the end of the day. A bit raw and soggy so will wait until Monday before playing in the Vets Stableford - really because of the steak pie afterwards! By the way, did the Markus match happen? - perhaps so, because he has been very apparent by his absence and you being the modest man that you are....

I am afarid Markus has been shot into Outer Space by the management here .... it seems he badly overstepped the mark in some respect (or lack of it as the case may be!)

Dont mention the M word ! , heavy snow in the east midlands , I may be stuck in doors all weekend .
