Designer Vision Limited - Join the in-car entertainment boom (DVS)

Technotamed - 13 Mar 2006 21:04

Remember when very few cars had a radio, now its common place.
Electric windows, sun-roofs and air-con where for top of the range vehicles.
Only XR3i and GTIs had fuel injection.

Now we are seeing SAT-NAV and in-car DVD and LCD SCREENS being fitted by car owners These are considered luxury items still or add-on kits.

We are now seeing SAT-NAV and in-car entertainment systems being fitted to more and more new cars, this will be the expected norm in the future.

DVL has over 15 years experience in the development and supply of in-car audio visual entertainment and satellite navigation solutions, with key strengths in the following areas:
Research and development
Concept design
CAD design and support
Programme management
OEM engineering liaison
Hard and soft trim fabrication
Performance and safety verification
Component manufacturing
Production assembly
Logistics management
Marketing support

With yet another contract added again today I feel that Designer Vision Ltd is the stock to back and get in early on the car entertainment boom.

Should see some significant buying in the run up to results on Friday!

Strawbs - 04 Sep 2006 17:03 - 111 of 223

I suspect the price will remain range bound between 7 and 8 until Friday. A number of larger investors will no doubt top-slice ahead of the results to lock in profits, and will take advantage of any strength in the share price.

At present we have a positive outlook, large orders (and so higher turnover) and a number of new contract wins (Virgin etc.). The results need to confirm a) sensible margins, leading to b) an interim profit, and c) continued strength in the order book moving forward.

The chart appears ready for a break upwards if the results are good, but of course could equally break down if things go badly.

Friday will confirm if this is truely a good recovery play or not.

As ever, just my opinion. Do your own research. etc.

Haystack - 07 Sep 2006 16:07 - 112 of 223

Recent contract wins should make no impact on the results out tomorrow as they are too late to contribute. It should be losses once again. The real question is the size of the margins on the contracts. If they are too low then it looks like losses for some time yet to come. I am sure there will be some bullish comments in the results statement, but I expect a sharp fall in the share price following the results. The next set of results after tomorrow should tell the real story.

Strawbs - 07 Sep 2006 16:46 - 113 of 223

The orders in April were for delivery within 60 days and 28 days respectively, at which point they would be invoiced and therefore must appear in the results. They may not receive payment within the period, and if that's the case they will appear as a debtor. Anything after April is unlikely to appear until the year end. I would agree that margins and the full year results will tell the full story.

As ever, just my opinion. Do your own research. etc.

Very happy, worth waiting for onwards and upwards.

Strawbs - 08 Sep 2006 09:23 - 116 of 223

Likewise Technotamed. I think this nicely lays the foundation for a break out in the coming weeks. The order book is "very strong" and "with the onset of the Christmas period we expect an increase in existing business as well as further significant contract wins", all of which should support a stronger share price going forward.

In my opinion anyway.....

Technotamed - 08 Sep 2006 12:23 - 117 of 223

Looks like the news is factered into the price so good news to support the current 8p. Further contracts and news will then move the price further in the right direction and with Christmas round the corner a nice position to be in.

Strawbs - 08 Sep 2006 12:54 - 118 of 223

I suspect it was partly factored in, although you often see drops or very little movement when things go according to plan. The rise normally starts several weeks later as investors slowly build up stakes. With further good news in the pipeline, the price should respond before too long. I imagine the Land Rover product launch will be the catalyst short term.

In my opinion.....

Still Waiting - 08 Sep 2006 21:00 - 119 of 223

Still a lot of hot money that went into this expecting fireworks on results will come out as they chase the next sure thing...

mm's will mark down in days to come as they buy the stock back.

Strawbs - 09 Sep 2006 21:00 - 120 of 223

Possibly. Although it's been range bound for the last 7 weeks, which seems a long time to tie up "hot money". I would've thought that most of the "hot money" arrived after the results date was announced, hoping for fireworks on Friday. Most traders don't want to tie up capital for more than a few weeks. In my opinion anyway.....

More dilution.

Technotamed - 22 Sep 2006 18:44 - 125 of 223

Big contracts need big money to fund them, as they are not cash rich they either had to borrow money (pay interest on that), issue more shares or do both. Long term story hasn't changed I'm happy to hold for 2 years.

Technotamed - 27 Sep 2006 18:08 - 127 of 223

Looks to me like the days traders / short term investors are playing with this stock. This will all change when the year end figures are out next year in March.

HARRYCAT - 27 Sep 2006 21:44 - 128 of 223

Hopefully you are right.
If I am not mistaken, 2006 is the first year (interim) in which DVS has shown a profit, so hopefully the year end figures will show the same.

Technotamed - 02 Oct 2006 18:51 - 129 of 223

Doesn't it make you wish you had sold at 8p. Athough I read in the Shares Mag some time ago that statistically people who jump in and out of shares make less profit than those who sit tight. Therefore your timing is more wrong than right.
