Hot and sticky here too, the weather's not up to much either!

jj50 - 06 Aug 2004 17:11 - 11024 of 23498

Evening Socrates.

Bunny, sounds like we all need a cool drink. At least there is a slight sea breeze here so pretty near perfect - you will have to hop on one of those planes and head this way!

stockbunny - 06 Aug 2004 17:11 - 11025 of 23498

LOL!!!

stockbunny - 06 Aug 2004 17:13 - 11026 of 23498

Great idea! Only been past Edinburgh on the way to Torridon in the highlands.

optomistic - 06 Aug 2004 17:18 - 11027 of 23498

Never been to Scotland jj, is it worth a visit, and is it true that you have whisky streams up there :-)))))

Socrates - 06 Aug 2004 17:19 - 11028 of 23498

jj50
Sea breeze, lucky person you are. I'd love to live sea side but can't until I retire (or win the lottery). What part of sea side are you in, is it real sea or estuary? I lived in Thanet for donkeys yonks but that isn't what I call real sea.

stockbunny - 06 Aug 2004 17:24 - 11029 of 23498

no seaside round here - just the odd kids sand-pit!

Socrates - 06 Aug 2004 17:27 - 11030 of 23498

stockbunny
That's funny, we've got odd kids round here too.

stockbunny - 06 Aug 2004 17:28 - 11031 of 23498

LOL!!! At least there is a glit of humour still in here after a day
like today!!!

optomistic - 06 Aug 2004 17:28 - 11032 of 23498

Don't you have a large river Bunny?

stockbunny - 06 Aug 2004 17:30 - 11033 of 23498

Not near us - plenty of runway though (lol) oh yes and the canal
(Grand Union)

optomistic - 06 Aug 2004 17:33 - 11034 of 23498

Well lots of aircraft spotting, or are you fed up of them

stockbunny - 06 Aug 2004 17:37 - 11035 of 23498

fortunately we aren't on a flight path but we get the ones going into
the RAF base at Northolt and odd ones when they divert them at LHR, but
thats not often due to air space for Northolt.

optomistic - 06 Aug 2004 17:42 - 11036 of 23498

Definately not a gliding area!!

Socrates - 06 Aug 2004 17:44 - 11037 of 23498

Ah Northolt, never been there. RAF Uxbridge held sway for a while, lived there and took tube into Earls Court every day for a couple of years. Boring in the extreme. Used to go for days out to noisy airfileds like Brize Norton, Coningsby and Wittering, just to break the monotony you understand. Claiming travel allowances never came into the equation, ever, honest.

Yours faithfully
C/T Prune (BA Hons Travel Claims and Allowances).

jj50 - 06 Aug 2004 17:48 - 11038 of 23498

Bunny, you should come sometime. Festival just starting in Edinburgh at the moment so a bit mad in the City but fine out here.

Opto, whisky streams (actually called burns!!) further north or on west coast islands like Islay. Unfortunately not quite neat whisky, but sort of brown in colour! You might be disappointed :-))

Socs. North Sea 18 miles, Firth of Forth a quarter of a mile, within sight - that good enough? Lived by beach but this is more sheltered. Scottish seaside can be a bit chilly, especially compared to Cheltenham :-)) The Cotswolds are pretty good.

daves dazzlers - 06 Aug 2004 17:50 - 11039 of 23498

Sounds good to me, what county is that (pardon my ignorance of anything north of RAF Lincolnshire). Any small crofts for sale that a poor ex RAF man could afford?

optomistic - 06 Aug 2004 17:53 - 11041 of 23498

Oh jj not what I imagined but I am sure it is all picturesquare.
Must go now have a nice weekend everyone.

jj50 - 06 Aug 2004 17:54 - 11042 of 23498

Socs - East Lothian. Big wealthy farms unfortunately! Even cottages going for too much, same as the rest of the country. What sort of planes did you fly? Sort of see you as a Buccaneer man!
