MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

We're on a big roller-coaster ride.

hlyeo98 - 08 Apr 2005 13:57 - 1104 of 2444

There is no doubt MMG is clearly oversold. Now 166p.

jimmy b - 08 Apr 2005 13:58 - 1105 of 2444

How much further can this fall,,???im thinking of getting back in ..

swseun - 08 Apr 2005 13:58 - 1106 of 2444

I was in at high price, now I lost 1/3 of the whole, I am stuggling if I should hold/ stop loss.. :-( .. any opinion is welcome and many thanks.

hlyeo98 - 08 Apr 2005 14:11 - 1107 of 2444

I think MMG is a hold in the long-run.

Chiva20 - 08 Apr 2005 14:17 - 1108 of 2444

Wow, this has really dropped like a lead balloon. Great buying opportunity, I was going to jump in at 180 but blinked and that's gone .. timing ..I reckon Monday we'll be back above 200 its way oversold.

mickeyskint - 08 Apr 2005 14:29 - 1109 of 2444

Topped up at 171. This has got to be a buying opp. Go for it.

Hope you're right Chiva but I'm watching. It is over a quid below where I took over 200% profits and also below my first batch of profits at 180p. Unbelieveable!! The shorters have got this by the sort & curlies and I would rather wait and see where it ends than undo my good progress this year.
SEO or MMG? Both my tips for 2005 but SEO seems better right now and I am adding there. MMG was too high on Genvax alone, rest is speculation on Ruthenium and potential deals with pharmas. Long-term still a good story but where to buy right now?

rob308 - 08 Apr 2005 14:32 - 1111 of 2444

sensible post andysmith......... i was ranting that 250 was a great buying opportunity a week ago
cheers. rob

Chiva20 - 08 Apr 2005 14:43 - 1112 of 2444

Bought in at 176, couldn't resist it's got too rally.

andysmith - 08 Apr 2005 15:00 - 1113 of 2444

Brave move. Hope you are successful. Shorters will be triggering stop-losses all over the place, in turn triggering more plus panic selling. For once glad to be on the side-lines with MMG though I am bound to get back in when the dust has settled.

chad - 08 Apr 2005 15:10 - 1114 of 2444

This is just one of those rollercoaster shares thats all over the place. Genvax was just the beginning, and with plenty more newsflow in the pipelines the fun is by no means over yet.

seawallwalker - 08 Apr 2005 15:31 - 1115 of 2444

I have decided to buy back in at its low.

Can someone post so I know it has got there please?

goldfinger - 08 Apr 2005 15:35 - 1116 of 2444

Im just glad I had to get shot of all my trading stock when I went on holiday, at the time I was cursing her indoors now I think I might buy her a bunch of flowers.

Its just a blood bath, you would have thought Mike Walters would have had a go at this analyst and his defunked first note, lets face it he was there for the taking for somebody in the investors public eye. I wouldnt have let him off the hook especially if I managed a tips board.

cheers GF. Still holding 2 tranches in the 40s.

mickeyskint - 08 Apr 2005 15:39 - 1117 of 2444

Too volitile to tell what is bottom SWW.

mickeyskint - 08 Apr 2005 15:41 - 1118 of 2444

Is it pulling back?

Interesting how demand has kept pace with supply for these shares, buys and sells now being roughly equal, notwithstanding the huge drop today. MM's trying to build up their own stock at a discount before the next lot of news by scaring people with the price drop???

goldfinger - 08 Apr 2005 16:18 - 1120 of 2444

Peel Hunt have published the new note target still 40p. Theres been a lot of nastyness over this with , Tom Winnifrith being accused of being reported to the FSA.
The analyst who published the original note (and the second one) was dragged before Finns Brokers (house broker ?)also a newspaper getting involved and MMGs public relations company.

All this comes back from Evil K and his friday update. I suspect myself its Mike Walters and Evil and t1ps still feuding. Theres been a battle going on ever since Evil K had a go at 3dm and Eden. I think theres more to come, in the meantime a cure for cancer is losing its investors, pathetic.

cheers GF.

mickeyskint - 08 Apr 2005 16:33 - 1121 of 2444

I'm still there GF, infact I bought some more today. You have to look at this long term. Is this share really going to be 168/170 in say 12/14 weeks, I think not. An announcement could see 3 again and very quickly. So I'm sure MMG are watching the situation and know what's going on. They are the ones who can stop this in it's tracks. And if the rest of us hold the shorting will grind to a halt. As for 40p well that's just plain daft with some people trying to influence the market. As I've said before shorting should be banned.

LOL and have a good one.

Chiva20 - 08 Apr 2005 16:44 - 1122 of 2444

I bought in first time today I can only see a golden opportunity here regardless of EK's market bullyboy tactics. Keep the faith this has got to pay off, hopefully most holders will keep their nerve.
