MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

I have decided to buy back in at its low.

Can someone post so I know it has got there please?

goldfinger - 08 Apr 2005 15:35 - 1116 of 2444

Im just glad I had to get shot of all my trading stock when I went on holiday, at the time I was cursing her indoors now I think I might buy her a bunch of flowers.

Its just a blood bath, you would have thought Mike Walters would have had a go at this analyst and his defunked first note, lets face it he was there for the taking for somebody in the investors public eye. I wouldnt have let him off the hook especially if I managed a tips board.

cheers GF. Still holding 2 tranches in the 40s.

Interesting how demand has kept pace with supply for these shares, buys and sells now being roughly equal, notwithstanding the huge drop today. MM's trying to build up their own stock at a discount before the next lot of news by scaring people with the price drop???

goldfinger - 08 Apr 2005 16:18 - 1120 of 2444

Peel Hunt have published the new note target still 40p. Theres been a lot of nastyness over this with , Tom Winnifrith being accused of being reported to the FSA.
The analyst who published the original note (and the second one) was dragged before Finns Brokers (house broker ?)also a newspaper getting involved and MMGs public relations company.

All this comes back from Evil K and his friday update. I suspect myself its Mike Walters and Evil and t1ps still feuding. Theres been a battle going on ever since Evil K had a go at 3dm and Eden. I think theres more to come, in the meantime a cure for cancer is losing its investors, pathetic.

cheers GF.

mickeyskint - 08 Apr 2005 16:33 - 1121 of 2444

I'm still there GF, infact I bought some more today. You have to look at this long term. Is this share really going to be 168/170 in say 12/14 weeks, I think not. An announcement could see 3 again and very quickly. So I'm sure MMG are watching the situation and know what's going on. They are the ones who can stop this in it's tracks. And if the rest of us hold the shorting will grind to a halt. As for 40p well that's just plain daft with some people trying to influence the market. As I've said before shorting should be banned.

LOL and have a good one.

Chiva20 - 08 Apr 2005 16:44 - 1122 of 2444

I bought in first time today I can only see a golden opportunity here regardless of EK's market bullyboy tactics. Keep the faith this has got to pay off, hopefully most holders will keep their nerve.

mitzy - 08 Apr 2005 16:44 - 1123 of 2444

I would not worry too much about EK as I recall speaking to him 18 months ago when the shares were trading at around 20p and I asked his opinion on their prospects and he replied that he had not heard of DB or the company.. nothings changed he is still very much in the dark as to MMI's future prosects..I still reckon 400p by the years end so fingers crossed the Ru news is due end of the month.

moneyplus - 08 Apr 2005 17:57 - 1124 of 2444

I added to my holding today--I don't think they will stay down for long.

jimmy b - 08 Apr 2005 18:11 - 1125 of 2444

Im waiting to get back in ,these are too volatile today,if i have to pay a little more in the long run ,so be it..JB..

hlyeo98 - 08 Apr 2005 21:41 - 1126 of 2444

Don't worry, everybody. Take this as a topping up opportunity as I've bought more at 170p - looks like a discount to me. When the ruthenium rns comes out, we will all be drinking together. Cheers!

andysmith - 08 Apr 2005 22:36 - 1127 of 2444

I don't think anyone here is right or wrong, you have to go on your own instinct as this is currently too volatile to call.
Jimmyb, I'm with you on this right now, would rather pay 190-200p knowing its settled than 170p and watch it go back to 120p or lower.
hlyeo/ms/moneyplus & others, well done for taking the brave step of buying now, MMG is a success story on the brink, just not convinced the shorters have finished yet. Can't see 40p, last year with no news it held 50p, I suggest the institutional fund raising of 70p in September would be absolute lowest, more likely 100-150p but hopefully we are at that level? Who knows.
It might have been better that sp had not gone so far so fast on relatively a good update on Genvax and nothing more, thats why I took my profit but at least now you know what can happen.
CRUCIAL QUESTION, and don't want to seem like badgering here BUT MITZY, HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THE RUTHENIUM NEWS IS THIS MONTH??

andysmith - 08 Apr 2005 22:49 - 1128 of 2444

Mitzy, I'm not having a go, your info is very valuable BUT I am intrigued as to how you know AND is this speculation in the price? Via contacts I have a contact at Glaxo and nothing has been mentioned about MMG. Maybe they can't say but to me a big pharma licensing from MMG is more valuable than Ruthenium just going into Phase II otherwise it may already be in the current price?
I am thinking here about folk on this bb, I've made good dosh on MMG and hope to make more but some folk think that MMG is bound to recover beyond 300p within a month and although I hope that they are right I am concerned.
Good Luck to everyone, investors in such a valuable company to the future of the human race do not deserve this behaviour from the minority of jumped up city twats shorting stocks in this manner.

jimmy b - 08 Apr 2005 23:23 - 1129 of 2444

andysmith,,i will be back in but only when i feel its settled,,we can say the shorters need shooting ,but i guess they are just out to make a few bob like the rest of us, its just annoying, and i wish it didn't exist. The market would be much easier to read .Good luck all..JB..

goldfinger - 08 Apr 2005 23:46 - 1130 of 2444

Just hold on a second Andy I respect your view and your posts but I dont feel you have any right to question Mitzy on how or where he gets his information. To date he as been correct 5 times out of 5, and that will do me. We dont need to know.

Keep up the good work Mitzy your a massive assett not just only to this thread but also to this board.

cheers GF. Ps, and by the way why not set up a system where you PM the longs in this one and then the shorters will be burnt and we can watch them fry. Yes I know Im a cynical barsteward but shorting a potential cure to cancer to me is totaly repulsive and sickening. Ive lost relatives and freinds through this awfull illness. Any other and I wouldnt give a jot, but weakening the companys financial base is a no, no.

mitzy - 09 Apr 2005 07:34 - 1131 of 2444

All I know is that the Ru news will be good and therefore good for the MMI sp and that there will be some form of annoucement of a tie-up with a large pharma who will underwrite the costs associated with fast tracking the phase 2 trials. Its up to DB to re-assure the market that everything is in order and that by the end of the year they will have 8 or 9 compounds in clinical trials..cheers.

doughboy66 - 09 Apr 2005 09:01 - 1132 of 2444

Thanks for that Mitzy,i thank you for your information on MMG, as Goldfinger has said it has been very reliable unlike some posters you get on these boards.
I wish they could bring out the news sooner and burn the fingers of the shorters, but not to worry every dog has its day and mine will come at the end of April.

mitzy - 09 Apr 2005 09:24 - 1133 of 2444

Its in the press today doughy that EK is shorting the stock and there will be no let up until they bring out the news so it is in DB's interest to bring it out sooner rather than later.I suspect we are near the bottom at 170p and that any conceived good news will add another 50% to the sp taking us back to 240p level and also the revised brokers notes are due out soon which should support the price.

andysmith - 09 Apr 2005 09:44 - 1134 of 2444

GF, agreed and I did say I'm not having a go and that I too value Mitzy's input.
If it wasn't for Mitzy, I may have sold out for a small profit last Autumn, instead I topped up and made a handsome profit. Before the shorters got hold of it, a bit of profit-taking bringing it back to 200p was a great buying opportunity, now we have two days of shorting and big drops and you yourself said only yesterday that you would steer clear for now until you know where it settles. My post 1126 said that in this situation everyone has to make their own call. On Monday will it be 140p or 240p?? Short-term risky, long-term not.
DO YOU GF, STILL BELIEVE 400P ON ANNOUNCEMENT OF RUTHENIUM INTO PHASE II.
A few weeks ago you were saying BUY in excess of 250p and now say you are glad to be out with only old historic 40p tranches left. Thats the problem now the shorters are on to it, too many mixed messages.
I trust Mitzy's valued information and think everyone on this bb also does and if I'm out of order prying to far, I apologise. Just trying to to tap deeper into Mitzy's knowledge to work out my entry point back into MMG as the timing of the Ruthenium RNS will be vital, in the meantime the shorters could take it lower which is a better buying opportunity for us all.
