Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Fred1new - 05 Jan 2019 19:50 - 11206 of 12628

Stand up Dil and George and be ready to serve:

2517GEORGE - 06 Jan 2019 09:48 - 11207 of 12628

What a pity you don't get behind the democratic vote and be positive about a country that has obviously looked after you and yours extremely well.

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2019 10:44 - 11208 of 12628

A country which has lost its sense of direction?

Claret Dragon - 06 Jan 2019 10:52 - 11209 of 12628

Mrs May is as slippery as an eel on Marr show.

Dil - 06 Jan 2019 11:12 - 11210 of 12628

Is that second cartoon Corby's defence policy Fred ?

2517GEORGE - 06 Jan 2019 11:21 - 11211 of 12628

No Dil, Corbyn wouldn't have a cutlass

2517GEORGE - 06 Jan 2019 11:22 - 11212 of 12628

The country hasn't lost it's sense of direction but many of our esteemed MP's have.

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2019 11:38 - 11213 of 12628

I didn't know you were an MP.

That may explain some of your problems.

Dil - 06 Jan 2019 15:28 - 11214 of 12628

And what problem would that be that George has Fred ?

No legs to walk to a polling booth ?

Can't understand a simple leave or remain question ?

Bad loser syndrome ?

Corbyitis ?

Give us a clue Fred.

Dil - 06 Jan 2019 15:33 - 11215 of 12628

CD , don't disagree with you but the best thing she said was only the government could request an extension of Article 50

Deal or no deal , we are leaving.

Cerise Noire Girl - 06 Jan 2019 16:04 - 11216 of 12628

At end add “(11) The provisions of standing order No. 24B (amendments to motions to consider specified matters) shall not apply in respect of any motion tabled by a minister of the Crown pursuant to any provision of section 13 of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.

Cerise Noire Girl - 06 Jan 2019 16:14 - 11217 of 12628

If you don't understand what that means, Dilbert, I'll explain it for you.

Basically, it means the beginning of the end of Brexit. I'm sure you'll get over it. But if you don't, j'en ai plus rien à foutre.

:o)

iturama - 06 Jan 2019 16:47 - 11218 of 12628

Standing orders are procedural, Hilary. They do not have the force of law as they do not constitute an Act of Parliament or regulations. The Withdrawal Act is an act of Parliament.

Cerise Noire Girl - 06 Jan 2019 17:05 - 11219 of 12628

Try reading the text of Grieve's amendment a second time, iturama. And if you still don't understand what it means, ask Fred or Stan.

Cerise Noire Girl - 06 Jan 2019 17:14 - 11220 of 12628

Here's a hint...

Standing Orders of the House of Commons - Public Business 2013

General debates

24B.—
Where, in the opinion of the Speaker or the Chair, a motion, That this House, or, as the case may be, the committee has considered the matter, is expressed in neutral terms, no amendments to it may be tabled.

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2019 17:16 - 11221 of 12628

Above my energy level and pay grade

But very few things other than death are irreversible.

What I do wonder is whether JC will allow free votes.

Ps.

I have waded through the today's Observer.

Interesting, but very depressing outlook on the world's economy.

Just wondering which country the Brexiters are going to do their deals with.

Fred1new - 06 Jan 2019 17:36 - 11222 of 12628

Anyway, a statement of promise from the present government is like a promissory note from a bankrupt company!

Will they be gone by Xmas?

Cerise Noire Girl - 06 Jan 2019 19:08 - 11223 of 12628

Fred,

As a word of advice going forwards, never suggest that something is outside of your job description. Just tell the gammon that, if they're too stupid to understand what they've voted for, they won't be allowed a vote in the second referendum.

:o)

Dil - 06 Jan 2019 19:23 - 11224 of 12628

Mrs May doesn't agree with you Hils and I'm sure she has been better advised on the legal position than any of us on here.

Slow boat to no deal anyone ?

Cerise Noire Girl - 06 Jan 2019 19:29 - 11225 of 12628

Is that the same Mrs May who promised to get net migration down to the tens of thousands as Home Secretary back in 2010, Dilbert? She was fos then, and nothing's changed now. You still believe any of the cr@p that comes from her mouth??

As a reminder, there's a big difference between denial, and that famous river in Africa!
