strewth guys! ..... sorry to see this debacle, for i fear a number of you will have been well and truly singed .... prob with this sort of stock is that the falls are vicious and self-perpetuating .... i am not sure how serious this "enquiry" is, and if the management is lucky, all will blow over as it did with POG ..... diff there, is that the Hambro family has a century of close involvement with the Russian government and also employs Russian nationals almost exclusively.

eventually the selling will dry up, but that may be not until 900 of 200 dma (850'ish) is hit

In a statement, Imperial said the Russia's Natural Resources Ministry has checked the company's oil projects in the country and have found them to be in full compliance of its licence obligations.

Imperial said it received from the Ministry on Tuesday a 'formal written Act of Confirmation' stating the group has 'met or exceeded' all of its licence commitments

Thats good enough for me!

cynic - 19 Apr 2007 12:23 - 115 of 896

i don't hold these shares, so have no axe to grind ..... IEC's own statement indeed gives some comfort, but the RNS from yesterday, "AFX roundup" I think it was called, gives a much fuller picture from several angles ..... well worth reading

Cynic
I respect your opinions always honest and well thought out. Iam only a small holder in this share (250) and i know this example is not the same but thought of RPT year or so ago, licence problems, fell right back. I brought in @60p. Just thought this might be a really good buying opportunity.8-)

cynic - 19 Apr 2007 12:43 - 117 of 896

rather hold IEC than RPT! ..... Timmins is at best a moral crook .... tempted by greed to buy IEC at these levels

brianc236 - 19 Apr 2007 12:49 - 118 of 896

I don't think the Russians will pull the plug, given the levels of investment in the Tomsk region by IEC (very simple theory, I know). Oleg Mitlov appears to have a habit of blowing hot air. The company seems to have very good relationships with the local authorities and I expect this will be cleared up sooner rather than later. As to the overall effect on the SP, we'll have to wait and see. Fortunately I'm long on this and am prepared to ride the storm.

Sometimes you`ve just got to take a gamble on gut feeling. I brought in again earlier on @10.60. Good Luck 8-)

cynic - 19 Apr 2007 12:51 - 120 of 896

tried just now at 1119 and price moved in the middle of dealing ..... pure greed - lol!

cynic - 19 Apr 2007 15:55 - 121 of 896

and the gods were looking after me as now down again to about 1070 mid!

blanche - 19 Apr 2007 16:05 - 122 of 896

My guts are just starting to wobble a bit. HOPEFULLY NOT THE SAME HOUSE I BACKED IN THE NATIONAL.

cynic - 19 Apr 2007 16:31 - 123 of 896

reckon you should be ok, but may be something of a lumpy ride ..... perhaps set a realistic profit target and stick to it.

seawallwalker - 19 Apr 2007 19:22 - 124 of 896

You are playing with fire here cynic.

The Russian Bear is alive and well, having only just emerged from hibernation.

He now wants his porridge only to find some little git has come along and got her feet under the table.

niceonecyril - 20 Apr 2007 07:39 - 125 of 896

What can one say at a time like this? The Russians being the Russians i suppose.
IEC as been pointed out are in full compliance with the Licence, but seems not to
satisfy the market, shorters are my biggest worry, once they smell blood?
IEC has become much more of a gamble, i believe all will work out but i,m
no expert and it's just imho.
Best of luck all, difficult decisions to make?

blanche ..... hope you took my advice from yesterday ..... if so, you should now be out with a healthy profit

blanche - 20 Apr 2007 10:41 - 127 of 896

Morning Cynic, Have considered taking my profits, but still think it will creep back up short term. Still good size buyers today @ 12+

cynic - 20 Apr 2007 10:50 - 128 of 896

prob difficult to do, but if you want to keep running the position, then recommend guaranteed stop-loss if you can get it in such a hugely volatile share

seawallwalker - 20 Apr 2007 11:17 - 129 of 896

Well done here cynic.

cynic - 20 Apr 2007 11:23 - 130 of 896

SWW .... can't cope with this praise ..... you make me come over all shy .... lol!!

brianc236 - 20 Apr 2007 11:30 - 131 of 896

IMO this will be resolved quickly. It appears Mitlov has previously attempted (and failed) to undermine Western exploration companies. No reason why he should succeed this time. Happy to hold, with my seatbelt fastened.

cynic - 20 Apr 2007 11:42 - 132 of 896

you are prob right, but even POG has still not recovered its pre-Mitlov levels
