Correction, I have checked in a Word program and my keyboard seems to be OK, however when I am typing onto a website eg EBuyer or this site, the keyboard seems to assume a different configeration, the at symbol becomes ", the hash becomes \ etc.

Is this a problem with me or my ISP, or elsewhere?

Two more:

In Internet Explorer, View/Encoding and set to Auto-Select (will be ticked), and Tools/Internet Options/General tab/Languages and Remove anything that is not English(United Kingdom).

Thanks Kayak, Auto select was not ticked, hope this will do the trick.

Edit, Yes it now works

@@@@@@

Thanks, Stephen

I have a laptop and have just bought a monitor (wanted a larger screen to look at). Can I have different websites open on the laptop and monitor?

Thanks.

Kayak - 06 Jan 2004 14:05 - 1149 of 11003

It depends on the laptop, you need to look at the instruction manual. Most of the time the video port is just a copy of the main screen, but sometimes it can be an extended desktop (dual monitor).

Serpico100 - 06 Jan 2004 14:08 - 1150 of 11003

Thanks. I'll check the manual.

Seymour Clearly - 06 Jan 2004 20:25 - 1151 of 11003

Serpico, try connecting your external monitor anyway, boot up your laptop then right click on your desktop, select active desktop, update now, settings, from there it should be self explanatory as to what options are available.

Iain, How long did you wait? It sometimes takes ages to load new additions to the s/w, esp on dialup like me.

Other than that only cmc can help. MM5 is a mystery to us all.

Iain - 07 Jan 2004 18:19 - 1155 of 11003

Im on Broadband.Ill leave it overnight and see then:-0

Optimist - 07 Jan 2004 18:32 - 1156 of 11003

Iain

I had exactly the same problem the other day. You need to download the latest version of MM5 then it should work.

Leaving it overnight does not work.

Kayak - 07 Jan 2004 18:33 - 1157 of 11003

Iain, are you using a firewall? If so, you need to open port 1057 outward.

Iain - 07 Jan 2004 18:50 - 1158 of 11003

How do i do that Kayak.
Optimist do you have the Address for the download.
Cheers,Iain

Optimist - 07 Jan 2004 19:14 - 1159 of 11003

Iain

Sorry my browser has not remembered it. Your best bet is to phone CMC Support (020 7170 8205). I think they are still open at this time.

Iain - 07 Jan 2004 19:40 - 1160 of 11003

ta.after corrie:-)

Kayak - 07 Jan 2004 20:16 - 1161 of 11003

Uhm, well, it depends what firewall you have...

Iain - 08 Jan 2004 09:24 - 1162 of 11003

Norton Internet security2003

Kayak - 08 Jan 2004 12:38 - 1163 of 11003

Iain, sorry, I don't know Norton, but look at the help files or manual to see how to enable outward ports or indeed whether you need to. Port 1057 needs to be open.

Iain - 08 Jan 2004 13:12 - 1164 of 11003

Formatted drive and tried again no firewall etc Loaded MM5 After loading Win XP PRO.Still doesnt load!
Grrrr.Cant work this out
