The main activity of Biofuels is the large scale production and exploitation of biodiesel and glycerine following the construction and commissioning of the initial plant.
Biodiesel is produced from vegetable oils and, as an environmentally friendly product, can make a significant contribution towards reducing green house gases and meeting Kyoto targets.

i may have "called it all the way" but unfortunately, having closed my short position albeit very profitably several weeks ago, it was not possible to reopen same

would have ben so nice to have shorted when i tried (several times) at 18p, though i dare say i would have banked my profit at say 10p where sp stuck for quite a while.

at least i managed to make SOME money on the short tack, even if i chickened out when Barclays obscurely seemed to be adding and adding and adding ...... clearly, despite appearances, the investment arm had no clue at all what it was doing!!

Which is why Cynic one should never get excited about institutional buying of any stock. They make just the same mistakes as the rest of us, but usually with many more noughts on the end!

quite so, but as Barclays are their bankers and the investment arm was buying when the shares were already plummetting - i.e. at about 14/16p - you will understand why i thought it prudent to close my own short position ...... unfortunately, i could not repeat the exercise a week or so later

apologies for O/T, but Cynic has suggested I beg a favour of you. Would you be so kind as to look at the CSR thread? Thanks in advance.

Doesn't this really show that large "Public" developments should be properly funded right from the start?
Remember Eurotunnel? that was a huge debt waiting to bite....the promoters thought they'd cream off all the x-channel traffic at the price they could name - do they think we are mad?
What happened was the ferry co's got their act together and massivly improved the pleasure - partly playing on the fear of being in a tunnel....see the sea, play the games, shop/drink relax on the sun-deck....
Here with BFC, who would guess that the Government would "rat" on their Green promises and effectivly tax the nascent company out of existance. Grief! give them five years to get their act together Mr Brown! The cost of the plant should have been paid for byt he Government and just leased to the Company in lieu of Tax - at so much a litre - that would prevent the Taxman getting greedy since he would be curtailing his own return on investment. The oil imports would be reduced by folk up north using biodiesel, probably to heat their houses also!
But then the Oilcos would never give any donations to politicians, would they?
....and BFC wasn't smart enough to lock-in the Government - shades of Patientline - eh?
It really is a sad day for those folk who wanted to help green this country.

BFC Masterminded their own demise hangon, not the government, nor the Oilco's.

quite right GDP .... BFC was a private enterprise, and like any company, suffers the consequences if they get it wrong .... BFC did! ....... grizzling and whinging by hangon and/or others is totally unwarranted .... there have certainly been plenty of posts on here going back several months telling everyone that this company was a dead duck

I think the answer to why people are drawn to these type of shares is,,they see it down at 2p or whatever ,see that it was once 2 and think its a bargain ,and not the dead duck that it is .
