Pardon my ignorance of Arabic. I hope you can answer this question.
Apparently "al" means "the"... as in Al Queda means "the base."
What does Sahaf mean? My friend tells me it means "Village Idiot."

STOP PRESS..Reuters Hot News....and The SAINTS have won their semi at Villa against Watford so we're in the F.A. Cup Final against the dreaded 'Lucky Gooners'...
mind, we stuffed 'em at their gaff earlier in the season so we're looking for a little bit of good fortune in the final...
Hils.....Got any of those leeks left from last year???
Kind of scrappy game with a fair bit of kick and rush but hey, who remembers the losing semi teams??

Another fabulous clear blue sky day but we're entering into Autumn and the temps dropping, now into the high seventies, mrs.lw swam in our pool today but too cold for me, things would disappear....
Here's to a good blue week EVERYBODY but especially with my No.1... PRM....lw

8 Ball - 13 Apr 2003 23:43 - 1163 of 23498

Hi Willie you lucky so and so, Blue skies and 70deg.
It's good to be in PRM at present, have you set yourself a sell target?
I am undecided when to sell, I would love to let it roll and wipe out my losses of the last few years.
I am in profit on PRM but not as much as I would like.
We appear to have broken the 70p level.
If I can get out at 90+ in the short term, I will.

hilary - 14 Apr 2003 14:12 - 1164 of 23498

Sweet William,

I sincerely hope that your Saints trounce the Gooners in the final. Regardless of the result, you will qualify for Europe next season. I do wonder, though, how your little Ginger Haggis of a manager will cope with the delights of Galatasaray and co.

I'm also deeply offended that you dare suggest I would carry a leek about my personage to a football match. Leek transportation is the sole preserve of Max Boyce and a number of Welsh posters on the pbb (leek in hand, sheep under arm!). Chelsea fans would not stoop to such low levels. They can often be seen, however, sporting Harrods bags brimming with an entirely different vegetable ........ CELERY!!

In addition there is a special technique for dispensing said celery in public and an accompanying anthem which must be sung in order to qualify as a True Blue (a bit like the Mason's "Secret Handshake", I suppose).

If you're interested in joining this secret sect, you can start by clicking here to learn the anthem.

Socrates - 14 Apr 2003 17:43 - 1165 of 23498

Isn't there a law against carrying concealed leeks?

vasey - 14 Apr 2003 17:51 - 1166 of 23498

hello, socks!

Socrates - 14 Apr 2003 18:02 - 1167 of 23498

Hello Vasey, how is yourself? Dyson is a bit quiet lately.

little willie - 14 Apr 2003 18:24 - 1168 of 23498

OH! WHEN THE SAINTS, GO MARCHING IN,OH WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN!!!!!!!!!

Hils..whoops, a veggie mix up; neither of 'em available over her, so thats another plus heh?
Wee Gordie, the carrot top lets his heart rule his head and makes me chuckle when he loses it.
Still largely an inherited squad from Dave [show me a child and I'll make you a man] Jones, actually thought he got a raw deal but it was an awkward situ.

Anthem not to HiFi quality 'nor singing. Was it recorded in your drum under a duvet with J & rugrats?..lol

8ball.cheers mate, cast averaging has seen me down to 32p, I've got buckets of 'em also upto max. in PEPs/ISAs both of us. No specific target set but see them upto 1-1.25 this year and imho think you'll do well.If you do, I do!!
C'mon you huskies, mush,mush...lw

vasey - 14 Apr 2003 18:26 - 1169 of 23498

Quiet is good, socks. I like quiet. The delicious Nick is trying to keep a low profile on the stock to stop me from having an excuse to ring him!

What news on PDX? It has to start motoring if we're to beat off the competition. Some grown ups have joined in the last few days, and of course, they start with the full 50k. (Hilary is such a softee. I'd have given them a handicap!)

Sorry about not changing my GSK short. I honestly thought the Game had gone into stand-by mode and all bets were off when the mutt took off like that, but time to start paying more attention

Socrates - 14 Apr 2003 19:10 - 1170 of 23498

I'm ever hopeful with PDX, problem is there is no telling when a contract may be signed. PDX have stated that they have no interest in production themeselves, only in licensing. If they don't do something soon I will have to cut my loss and pile everything into BULM.

hilary - 14 Apr 2003 20:59 - 1171 of 23498

Sweet William,

Good guess about the duvet ........ was it that obvious? I guess that J's reputation for singing preceeds him. He got turfed out of his music class at school for being tone-deaf. He's offered to let you have the words to some of the songs from his repertoire of Mr Wenger classics especially for the final.

vasey,

I did give the newbies a handicap ......... by letting the regulars start a few weeks ago, you've all had ample opportunity to race off to an unassailable lead. I might even start to play the game properly myself in a few weeks.

:-)

hightone - 14 Apr 2003 21:40 - 1172 of 23498

Handicap dont know about that a few weeks ago was we going to war or not, would it be long or or short, would the markets like it or not. now the war is over we won and now will come a short bull run if some big companies release good figures and say order books have picked up and increase estimated earnings then we will go on a longer bull run so now time to cut most shorts and pick out the ones to go long on.

Good evening.

Visited the dogs home tonight, they have no golden retrievers at present.
Said if they come across one smelling of cheap bitter they would phone.

little woman - 15 Apr 2003 07:54 - 1174 of 23498

Good morning all,

Just poping in for a quick cup of coffee before disappearing off "to make my daily bread". Not sure when I'll be able to pop back, but will try and sneak a look to keep track at what's happening over the next few days until I'm free again.

Bolddog - 15 Apr 2003 10:15 - 1175 of 23498

Socs : I fell through the back of a wardrobe at the end of last week and found myself surrounded by bottles. It took me to Monday to drink my way out. Could I have been in "The Locked Room" ?

Hilary : I'm such an unreliable poster that I suspect that I wouldnt Keep Up in the comp. ( and in true Bolddog style end up bringing the game into disrepute 8-)) )

Please everyone tell me I'm wrong, but I see the next few years for Western Europe being marked by systemic failure of small companies ( Oh Yes ! Bolddog is in a right jolly mood today ).

Ursidae - 15 Apr 2003 10:57 - 1176 of 23498

Vasey,

re 1168; "...... and of course, they start with the full 50k. (Hilary is such a softee. I'd have given them a handicap!)"

I can assure you that I am quite capable of giving myself a handicap! It shouldn't be impossible for me to turn 50K into 30K in double quick time ;-)

vasey - 15 Apr 2003 11:32 - 1177 of 23498

... and I was about to offer to give you a handicap myself! Rats...!
