I wouldn't dream of looking that far ahead. I'm sure AFR will be OK but if we double dip then stocks that appear to be ok may well be bust in a years time. For that reason, I think of today and that is it.

By the end of 2012 if we went into a depression, AFR could be back to 20p or as you say it may be 5. Why take the risk?

Most of us cannot just sell and buy back the next day except in an isa or sipp.....that does make investment decisions more tricky.

I'm just waiting to see where the market's going because where that goes AFR will go with it.

dealerdear, As you say where fste goes afren follows. If the dow was well up yesterday the ftse would be up, Then Afren would have been up now and you would now be making a loss on your short. Its all a gamble!! gltu

i'm up 100% on this afr but i dont say it made me money until i cash in.

Exactly dealerdealer, so bit premature to go short @ 8am after a Bank Holiday weekend when the market is down don't you think. Crazy yanks capable of anything.

Morgan Stanley note out today:
"Quick comment on H1 interims: After a recent run-up in the shares, the bears will undoubtedly focus on a modest delay in Ebok field ramp-up to plateau (ph 1 &2) and therefore FY 2010 production. Nonetheless, there is evidence Afren is making strong progress towards the Ebok production test (c. 15kb/d) in early Oct, while there was a notable positive surprise from the results of the Ebok 8 well which encountered 100ft of oil pay in the LD1E sand. With Okwok well (35 day targeting 70mb) spud last week, a completion date on the Black Marlin transaction due in early October and a high impact E&A drilling campaign kicking off with OPL115 in Q4, the next 12m remains company defining. A presentation at 9am should reassure on Ebok, financing and provide an update on potential acquisitions in Nigeria through FHN.
With 46% upside to our Base NAV of 147p/sh, we would use any near-term weakness to increase weightings."

from october AFR should throwing off so much cash they won't know what to do with it!! 2 by christmas.

seriously though, if market had been up 50 points today rather than down 50, then AFR may have reached 105 ish today

forget 105p with production set to increase by 200% when ebok starts pumping they should be generating over $1bilion pa cash by end of 2011.

Thought i had made a error when i bought at 98p on opening this morning, glad its now over 100p

mine at 69p look even better.,.

How about 14p.....I still think this a very good stock and a substantial rise is coming.

Now can we push through the elusive 105. Where's cynic ? dont tell me you bailed out.
