banjomick - 15 Jun 2004 08:48

INTELLIGENT INVESTING WITH BANJO,well sort of! (Ed-hmmmm-lol)

Galleon Holdings plc has three key divisions:Galleon Entertainment for entertainment type IP,Croco Worldwide for product IP,Phoenix for interactive TV services for broadcasters in China/South East Asia which includes Robot Information Technology (Lushy Assets ('Yunbo')) who are a wireless interactive platform service provider in China who will work alongside Phoenix to enable GON to hold on to a greater part of the generated revenue and so increase the profit margin......think that's the plan! :-)

This makes Galleon Holdings a 'One Stop Shop' to develop and complete new and existing IP's.

Apollo's Pad has been off-line since 10 this morning, website may be being updated or server problems/checks.So while I wait, from the recent interims:

"Apollo's Pad, an interactive online animated sitcom, was launched in October 2007,
targeting 16-24 year olds. We have developed strong relationships with the music majors which have widened to include EMI publishing as well as Sony BMG."

Galleon Holdings PLC

Agreement with Hunan Television in China

Galleon Holdings plc (AIM: GON), an AIM listed entertainment media company focused on the emerging markets, is pleased to announce that it has secured a contract with Hunan Television ('HNTV') to develop and facilitate interactivity for a range of programmes to be broadcast on its Entertainment Channel.

Under the terms of the agreement, Galleon's Chinese operation, Phoenix, a provider of interactive entertainment services to broadcasters in China and South East Asia, will work with HNTV to develop interactive game play, functionality and content applications for seven shows to be broadcast on the Entertainment Channel over the coming year. Galleon will also be responsible for the billing and fulfilment of all mobile or telephone based interactive activity, which is enabled by its acquisition of Yunbo, a mobile service provider in China, in February 2008. Revenue will be earned on a profit share basis.

HNTV is one of China's leading provincial broadcasters with an audience reach of 67 million. It has a reputation for delivering cutting edge entertainment formats to the China market.

Commenting on the syndication, CEO of Galleon Holdings, Stephen Green said:

'We are delighted to be working at such a strategic level with another leading broadcaster in China. This is a testament to the expertise of the Phoenix team and its strong relationships with broadcasters in the country. The combined audience of these seven shows presents us with a significant opportunity to generate revenues through interactive channels and applications.'

Worth reading this again:

"Focusing on family entertainment, Galleon is planning to launch two other programs into Chinese living rooms later this year. One is called The Limit, a game show with the family shopping experience as its focus, and the second is called Perfect Start, another game show that aims to give one young couple the perfect start in life, this perfect start apparently including a honeymoon in the UK!"

banjomick - 08 Jul 2008 23:41 - 1177 of 1609

Also worth reading the update on Apollo's Pad which should not be seen as just this IP but more what GON have learned from building this up to progress a similar format for other IP's whether from their own stable or joint ventures that require an interactive internet presence in China/SEA.

Especially when read in conjunction with the following foot note from the last announcement:

Notes to Editors:

Galleon Holdings plc creates and distributes multi-platform branded entertainment properties focused on the emerging markets, in particular China and South East Asia. The entertainment properties are designed to establish a direct, interactive relationship with the viewer.

Television in China reaches approximately 98% of the population of 1.3 billion. Mobile phone penetration is also high, with over 450 million subscribers and with over 300 million people online, China is now the largest online market in the world. Huge TV audiences and growing interactive platform access presents a substantial opportunity for Galleon to benefit from the popularity and demand for interactive entertainment and game shows. China is forecast to become the world's fifth largest advertising market.

In October 2007 Galleon acquired Phoenix, a Hong Kong based media solutions company, which specialises in the provision of interactive broadcast television services that enable broadcasters in China and South East Asia to provide interactive entertainment for audiences to access through TV, online and mobile.

In February 2008 Galleon acquired Yunbo, a mobile service provider in China, strengthening the Company's ability to provide Chinese broadcasters with a complete media solution for multiplatform entertainment. Galleon now has total control over the interactive content, its delivery to the consumer, data capture and the billing process.

Galleon develops entertainment formats for children, families and young adults. These include:

Super Soccer Star - an interactive family orientated football talent show. Produced in association with Chelsea Football Club. The first series, currently broadcasting in Gungdong province, China, has achieved top five show status.

The Limit - prime-time family variety game show. To be launched in Hunan province, China later this year.

Skunk Fu! - a comedy action animated TV show for kids aged 6-11.

Apollo's Pad - an interactive online animated sitcom targeting 16-24 year olds.

Not sure when Qube updated their site, could have been up to 3 weeks ago with this:

What we did

To build the audience we put into place a wide-ranging digital marketing strategy encompassing social media marketing, online pr, search marketing and eCRM (customer relationship management).

We identified many communities online who might be interested in Apollo's Pad, from puppet fans and comedy writers to South Park fans and celeb gossips. We got talking and discovered key influencers to help us.

We understood the audience didn't always want to come to the Apollo's Pad website they were happy in their own communities so we took some content to them.

We listened to the communities online and fed back ideas to the show producers helping them create highly targeted content based on real conversations happening out on the web.

banjomick - 12 Jul 2008 22:35 - 1186 of 1609

jkd,

"i always thought this was about kids stuff. not any more."

From 09 October 2006:

"Galleon's CEO Stephen Green said 'This is a landmark deal for Galleon, and has
the potential to transform the company's entertainment business in a quantum
way. Sony BMG's expertise in music talent, rights management and its global
infrastructure for exploitation makes them the perfect partner for us. This
strategic alliance represents a huge endorsement of the project which will add
momentum to discussions with broadcasters, sponsors and other strategic and
commercial partners."

http://moneyam.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/200610090700281344K.html

From 25 January 2007:

For many years the entertainment industry has been watching media convergence
and considering its impact on entertainment consumption habits. In 2006 online
media came of age as an entertainment channel and TV broadcasters are reacting
to this new trend. For the first time, TV broadcasters are insisting on
properties being created with multi-channel consumption built into the content
as opposed to being an afterthought. The industry is referring to this as a '360
degree' or 'multi-platform' approach to entertainment. As a company in the
entertainment IP business this has led to us spending more time on development,
considering multiple channels of access for consumers, such as TV, online,
mobile, live events and retail when creating IP. For some demographics, such as
the 16-24 year old market, online has overtaken TV as the main channel of
entertainment consumption. This means that the traditional TV-led route to
market is being challenged as other opportunities and partnerships arise.

As such, during 2006, we have focused on developing in-house entertainment IP
that allows the consumer to interact with the IP through all key channels. This
means that we have looked at not only creating entertainment that can be
consumed through multiple channels but we are also considering the assets that
may be needed to facilitate this consumption.

Apollo's Pad

Apollo's Pad is the first example of a successful application of our skills to
this new way of thinking. The consumer most affected by convergence is the 16-24
year old. They have a voracious appetite for music, comedy and other
entertainment that can be snacked across multiple platforms. Apollo's Pad is
effectively a business that takes your all-time favourite music and, by applying
the latest in animation and comedy, delivers these great tracks to today's
multimedia consumer as branded entertainment across all channels and platforms:
online, TV, radio, mobile and retail. It was critical that in development we not
only created the content but also the web portal that will allow consumers to
access this content on a global basis. As a business it allows traditional TV
partners to participate in the brand on a regional basis, but is not dependent
on them as means of accessing the consumer. This means that we can launch
Apollo's Pad directly to the global online music market, benefiting from
direct-to-consumer revenue streams from day one of launch. This direct dialogue
also allows our consumers to directly participate in the creating and shaping of
the content that they consume. This integrated two-way dialogue allows us to
constantly be in touch with our audience and effectively create 'Organic
Content' that evolves according to their needs.

This new business model has already resulted in a global deal with Sony BMG who
will be our music partner providing access to music rights and catalogue as well
as the best artists and producers. Sony BMG will also be our partner in the
sales and marketing of the music videos we create on a global basis.
Conversations with TV, mobile and online partners are continuing on a territory
basis. The first content will be launched in quarter four 2007.

"guess i dont read your posts and always follow all the links."

Not sure what you mean there but from the above and as far back as January 2007 (probably even earlier) they clearly state AP is for the 16-24
year old market!

banjomick - 12 Jul 2008 23:04 - 1188 of 1609

"i have to tell you that im not impressed by it.( sorry)
maybe im just too old but it seems the content could be very controversial
and certainly not for kids. or maybe the world has changed."

As said before AP is targeted for the 16-24 year old market! Elvis,Beatles,Hendrix,Sex Pistols,South Park,Viz,MTV,Adult Swim................list is endless for being controversial at the time!

jkd - 12 Jul 2008 23:04 - 1189 of 1609

bjm
thanks
16-24 year olds certainly cuts out the kids stuff that i was under the mishapprehension about,so thanks for clearing that one up.
would this last link then be aimed at that same age profile? ie.16/24'S
it would seem so.
not a company i want to invest in.
nuff said.
the market is always right.
i am often wrong.
kindest regards.
and best of luck to you.
jkd

jkd - 12 Jul 2008 23:08 - 1190 of 1609

good luck to you

jkd

banjomick - 12 Jul 2008 23:14 - 1191 of 1609

jkd,
What you might not have seen is the wide spectrum that GON covers in all aspects of their business.
Apollo's Pad is looking a very exciting IP at the moment that has great potential in the area it is aimed for.AP can also be seen as an initial testing ground to master this 360' application where it can then be transposed to completely different IP's from both GON's own stable and third parties across the globe but more importantly in China/SEA!
