Queen and Country (BABE)

Sponsor Your Queen and Country

BABE Rally 2007 - From BA (Big Apple) to BE (Big Easy), a total drive of 1500 miles in four days on the east coast of the USA, in a banger yank tank that has to cost less than $250.

In a moment of madness, Martini and Gausie have entered a team - "Queen and Country", the entry has been accepted, and so long as we can get all of the prelims in place, at the end of May we'll be setting off from New York with "New Orleans or bust" ringing loudly in our ears.

In case you're wondering, we'll start with Martini as Queen (Gausie will be Cunt-ry) and we'll swap over every now and again.

We'll be raising money for Save The Children, and hopefully, in due course, some of you guys will dig deep.

We're planning on getting a car in late April and flying out a week early to prepare it for the journey - which is at the end of May.

We'll be looking for a car with acres and acres of metal and rust, a decent set of brakes, an engine and gearbox that stands a chance of getting us 1500 miles, and a very loud stereo. We've decided that an open top is mandatory - even if we have to take a cutter to a saloon. A custom paintjob is planned, given sufficient time.

Was just thinking, if you're still having trouble finding a white chest wig - have you considered an alternative?

Martini - 12 May 2007 14:43 - 120 of 269

Many thanks to bigwig & honeyguide who have edged ever closer to the target.

LOL Choccie

chocolat - 12 May 2007 14:47 - 121 of 269

And in case another problem niggled both of you ...

Sorted ;)

Martini - 12 May 2007 15:42 - 122 of 269

dead cat bounce many thanks and choccie you pushed over the top hey never thought we would do it!!

chocolat - 12 May 2007 16:24 - 123 of 269

That was the easy bit - you still have 1500 miles to go :)

so knock 'em dead boys

although in your case it'll likely be the crooning, not the cruising, that kills them.

Big Al - 12 May 2007 20:45 - 124 of 269

2.5k reached. Really well done guys.

............... but then as Choccy says ............ ;-)))))

The incentive of course are the Hurricanes when you get there. That's the cocktail, not the weather BTW. LOL

Well guys and gals we have some news on the car front. Through a contact for stickers we got a link to a 1994 Oldsmobile 88 click here for history up for sale for $400 with rear damage.

car1.jpgcar2.jpgcar3.jpgcar4.jpg

Well sent an email explaining what we wanted the car for and saying I was coming out Tuesday and got this email back.

hey man whatever you want to do ill take 200 cash in hand on the 18th by then my car will be in so its cool to take this one, as of right now im still driving it and there is no doubt that if you dont beat on her on the highway she will make it to NOLA. id rather give it to you for cheap and do something with it than some dude just junking it the car means alot to me and the wife so it will be great if you like it. thanks dave

Now we havent got it yet but it feels right.

Big Al - 13 May 2007 21:07 - 126 of 269

Perfect. It's only a wee dent, nothing more. Just measn the luggage might get a bit damp if it rains. Pah!

;-))

Gausie - 13 May 2007 21:10 - 127 of 269

Al - what you can't see on the pics is that the boot lid also went through the rear window - that's a PVC bin-liner on the back.

Shouldn't matter as we're planning on chopping that bit off anyway as part of the weight reduction so essential in any rally car. Saves the pair of us having to diet.

ROFLMAO!

MightyMicro - 14 May 2007 01:53 - 129 of 269

An Oldsmobile! Perfect for Martini! Hey, Martini, that means you have to drive at 25mph in the middle of the road for the whole journey, oblivious to all other traffic.

mg - 14 May 2007 07:26 - 130 of 269

M
Looks "Perfick" - half the alterations already done - but you had better not show him that you've got an angle grinder in waiting to do the remaining small adjustments - he and his wife seem to be a tad attached to their old oldsmobile!!

Home Depot should have the required red, white and blue spray cans - so eezy peezy - so long as Hank and Thelma aren't around to see the transformation.

Looking forward to a Brit win on all of the speed and style stages of the rally:) Colin McCray - eat your heart out - there are 2 new boys (well, old gits, really) on the scene.

Martini - 14 May 2007 12:23 - 133 of 269

Many thanks Iain and who's this Atomic Kitten I wonder? :)

Hey Choccie now thats what I call a lick of paint - a guy could get his tounge stuck in the grill.

Gausie - 14 May 2007 12:51 - 134 of 269

Choccy - Now thats what I call a boob job.
