Helius Energy - Biomass power generation (HEGY)

huxley - 31 Jan 2007 19:17

Listed today on the AIM raising 2.035m with a placing at 26p and a projected market cap of 18m.

Helius Energy are looking to deploy power generation plants in two categories - 50-65MWe and small scale 5MWe plants. The initial focus in the UK is for 3 in each category.

Proven supplier of biomass generators WtsilBiopower has been signed up to provide the technology know how.

The first large scale site has been secured at Stallingborough, Teeside. Totalling 36 hectares this site provides key access to transport links and the required supply of feedstuff.

1 day chart looks to be broken :-(

In addition to focussing on the Teeside site it also has an office in Johannesburg, South Africa to help solve the growing needs for power with an environmentally friendly solution.

General Capital appear to be the largest institution holding stock - about 9% of the 58m shares issued. Although Jonathan Hill a Helius non-exec director is also a founder of General Capital...

What's Up?
In four years we're still on P1 - such is the interest.....?

I do not like the connection with Wartsilla Bio - a respected Co but their website speaks of soya, and similar crop-based biomass fuels - NOT for me. There should be a ban on food destruction . . . . and tax-breaks that encourage are lies, IMHO.
The way I see it, this (AIM-listed) Co. is just a planning Agency, or am I missing something.... do they possess some USP?

Well, I see Dirs sold 4m shares recently and only one Dir bought 1m - that says something, perhaps they are using all their output to fuel Dirs cars and overseas travel - dunno, but "bargepole" looks about right.
BTW, if you hadn't guessed - I don't like Alternative Energy...... it's a nice idea, but cannot compete
with World demand - we (in the West) are set on a path of self-destruction, until something cheaper replaces it.
Furthermore there is a massive population growth (=energy use), which will only be satisfied
by Nuclear (oops, fears abound) or "fossil" which is easy to obtain, now we have the "tech".
World Pop is influenced now by China, India and most of S.America -
- Biomass Huh!
