Should I sell my ADVFN shares? (AFN)

Stuckinrut - 18 Feb 2003 10:04

Been a holder for too long but now getting very nervous, bought at 6p. The share price has held up in the last few months but looks like the market makers were dumping stock yesterday. I presume there are some concerns now that they have a competitor but also at a stroke they have wiped out some of their income and path to profits by reducing prices last week.

I sold 100,000 yesterday and am in 2 minds what to do next, anyone holding or selling? Anyone know how much cash they have left as its not too clear from the Annual Report?

Thanks Stuckinrut

Mr Magoo - 04 Jul 2008 16:36 - 14 of 91

that sounds serious- why has the sp been going up?

rayrac - 04 Jul 2008 16:41 - 15 of 91

Are they bust,ie, finance, or is this a tech thing?

romanway - 04 Jul 2008 16:43 - 16 of 91

I had assumed that it was a tech thing. However, they are not usually down for this long. Makes you wonder.

Optimist - 04 Jul 2008 17:03 - 17 of 91

I've run TRACERT which suggests that it is a problem with Colts system.

Navajo - 04 Jul 2008 17:04 - 18 of 91

Last trade time was 4:28. They also went up another 1.5% at 4:15.

A tech thing, but a bad one by the looks of it.

Pugugly - 04 Jul 2008 17:08 - 19 of 91

romanway:> I was told when I phoned it was a techie thing. however down a lot longer than usual - BUT if finance I would have expected rumours and so far as I am aware there have been none. Certainly based on the quality of the Threads I follow they seem to atract more posters some of whom are v-knowledgeable.

Any one with any knowledge?

Pugugly - 04 Jul 2008 17:09 - 20 of 91

Optimist:_ We crossed - I bet COLT age getting a right kicking

halifax - 04 Jul 2008 17:20 - 21 of 91

Unfortunately ADFN seem to have let their members out of the the "FUNNY FARM"!

banjomick - 04 Jul 2008 17:28 - 22 of 91

Grandma - 04 Jul 2008 17:28 - 23 of 91

halifax- what do you mean? I can't access ADVFN at all this afternoon
do you have a suggestion for a n alternative, please?

NickB - 04 Jul 2008 18:18 - 24 of 91

Perhaps Colt have not been paid.

Nil Pd - 04 Jul 2008 18:45 - 25 of 91

Yes, I think you should

Nil Pd - 04 Jul 2008 18:46 - 26 of 91

...sell your shares, Stuckinrut.

Nil Pd - 04 Jul 2008 18:47 - 27 of 91

If you haven't already.

Nil Pd - 04 Jul 2008 18:49 - 28 of 91

Coz I'm really fed up that I haven't been able to access my favourite and most informative financial site for most of today. It happens to all sites from time to time but in my experience this is the longest they've been down. They must have been hit by a serious bug.

dorothyperkins - 04 Jul 2008 18:52 - 29 of 91

how much cash is left?

invalid - 04 Jul 2008 18:53 - 30 of 91

agree nil pd I am getting withdrawal symptons, it's like losing all your friends.

Nil Pd - 04 Jul 2008 18:56 - 31 of 91

Yes, DTs are setting in already.

Dorothy, I doubt it's a cash problem - Optimist (is that you Optomist from V Fa DN?) has run a check and found it's a COLT problem.
