Traders Thread Tuesday 6th July 2004 (CROC)

Martini - 05 Jul 2004 20:49

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 09:55 - 12 of 30

morning all.good news for william hill holders for which i am one,,,,,,,going well.any cash holders on here{cardpoint}seems growth will carry on with these recent contracts, and share price down over 10% since i last thought of buying.one for a long term i think, let the hunt for a happy price begin .an opportunity to good to miss.

Big Al - 06 Jul 2004 12:46 - 13 of 30

Midday report

Took +2 from ICI intraday, lobbed FIB -9, lobbed BRW -3 and added AQP. Not the best day, but still showing tinges of blue.

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 12:50 - 14 of 30

Big Al Tullow took over African Energy a few weeks back. They hold 20% of the Mauritanian Adventure.

The price of Tullow does not yet reflect that as far as I can see. May be worth a punt for when it is noticed by the media in my opinion but I will look for at least the days low again.

Big Al - 06 Jul 2004 12:58 - 15 of 30

sw - I looked at TLW the other day. It's done quite well recently. It's done what I think PLR should. Serves me right for thinking!!

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 13:09 - 16 of 30

Wrong chart looked at.
Looks on the up.
Difference between PLR and TLW is that PLR play mainly closer to home so both in one packet does not leave all the eggs in one basket.

There will be a bounce for all if OPEC do withdraw the increased production promise.

(Nearly convinced myself there!)

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 13:39 - 17 of 30

PLR 2 trades totalling 7.5 million sell. Needless to say the price has dropped a bit.

Big Al - 06 Jul 2004 14:36 - 18 of 30

Thanks for letting me know I'm losing there! LOL

Went long SBT at 100p. Hopefully had a pullback and ready to resume upwards. Will lob if 98p goes.

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 15:09 - 19 of 30

Me too with PLR but what the heck.

I understand oil has spiked in respect of the price which when it filters through, up these oil stocks will go.

All, of them!

Big Al - 06 Jul 2004 15:11 - 20 of 30

sw - holding because technically it could pull back to these levels. Think I'd really worry if it got solidly below 125p.

My WHT short ticking nicely again today.

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 15:15 - 21 of 30

Big Al.

Jumped out of HNR too quickly yesterday, but you never know how long the up will last with good news.

Still profit is profit!

SBT looks a good long prospect.

Bookies never lose!

Big Al - 06 Jul 2004 15:25 - 22 of 30

sw - money in the bank cannot be lost.

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 16:27 - 23 of 30

Exactly what I do with surpluses.

Bank it and forget it.

Too easy, as I used to do to reinvest it and tie it up.

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 16:33 - 24 of 30

afternoon all,big al your right it safe in the bank!!!!!!!!!until tht inland rev want there cheque, allright seawall how`s trick`s.

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 16:41 - 25 of 30

Pretty good.

Some winning some not.

See WLW, definitely on the fall.

BFP also, but I think it has gone far enough.

Did you recover your ground on SBRY? Looke dto me like you may have done.

Big Al - 06 Jul 2004 16:45 - 26 of 30

Went short a few MGCR towards the close. Feel it's definitely rejected resistance and would like 140p tomorrow!

Dave - you'll never go bust baking some cash!! ;-)

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 16:52 - 27 of 30

b,a.,seaw .whats your views on mtn.

seawallwalker - 06 Jul 2004 18:26 - 28 of 30

MTN will never go bust!

Could be on the bounce by the look of things. Yahoo Bizz have resistance at 260p

Valuation using Matalan plc 's current multiple (P/E):

Fiscal Year Est Low/High Price Range Avg. Est. Price % Change for Average
2005......................210.56-330.88............ 270.72.........30.29%
2006......................204.92-394.80............ 306.44......... 47.48%

Above from MSN Bizz

Looks like there is some slack in the price, not one I follow though!

Big Al - 06 Jul 2004 19:01 - 29 of 30

Dave - made a bucketload on MTN last year on bid rumours. If I remember, 206 - 258p, or close. Did trade it intraday earlier this year when it was languishing around the 160-175p mark. Kind of took my eye off it for a bit and see it is up and away again.

My local one is always mobbed, but not sure how their margins are. Goods are very cheap.

daves dazzlers - 06 Jul 2004 21:19 - 30 of 30

cheers al,yes i have more intrest in it my self now up over 30% for us 4,we my now sell for 2.30/2.40 ish who no`s,,,,are sell price was 2.60,make just over a quid on each share.
