Fred1new - 31 Oct 2004 17:08

Any punters living in Birmingham Area interested in a Pie, Pint and jaw, one evening in a pub in Birmingham area.
Personally interested in small time investing(gambling), developing an appetite for CFDs. Also developing an interest in Charting or TA.

I use Sharescope, Moneyam, Barclays, Comdirect and IC

I am hiding in my cave.

I am safe I can't see anything!

Stan - 19 Oct 2005 12:25 - 121 of 1427

Oh yee of little faith!

I'm fine for next Tuesday but may leave early to see the Villa exit the League Cup.

At present waiting for my OOM to cough up some short term ackers!

Fred1new - 19 Oct 2005 15:12 - 122 of 1427

I am glad you are having a better day than I am.

THe market is miserable for me.

Had a feeling it would be miserable.

Think I will make some nutty bread.

It maybe all I can afford to eat to-morrow.

Fred1new - 19 Oct 2005 15:13 - 123 of 1427

Ain't this board quiet!

Stan - 19 Oct 2005 17:19 - 124 of 1427

Finished down 96pts In the end.

Nothing really to be done on a day like today, wait and see time.

Good shares go down as well as bad one's on days like these.

Fred1new - 19 Oct 2005 18:17 - 125 of 1427

I am not certain about what should be done.

Contemplating Suicide but my wife informs me Murder is more my forte.

Have a nice evening while I burn the incense over the candles.

The Dow is up.

Stan - 19 Oct 2005 18:24 - 126 of 1427

I can't believe that we won't see some sort of bounce back tomorrow though.

Fred1new - 19 Oct 2005 18:34 - 127 of 1427

The bread I made when the market dropped rose and is now in edible form.

Fred1new - 19 Oct 2005 18:36 - 128 of 1427

Stan have a look at the SIPPs thread. I am not certain whether CSN is any use to you.

Stan - 19 Oct 2005 22:53 - 129 of 1427

It's on the expensive thread unfortunately Fred...which a poor man like me can't afford..sob..sob.

Have you seen how the Dow finished?, up 129pts.

Interesting now to see what we do tomorrow.

Stan - 26 Oct 2005 01:22 - 130 of 1427

A good meeting and hope everyone got home OK.

No cup shock at Villa park unfortunately....still can't win em all.

Fred1new - 26 Oct 2005 08:45 - 131 of 1427

Arrived safely. Enjoyable evening, lets hope a good market to-day.

55011 - 26 Oct 2005 12:39 - 132 of 1427

All safely gathered in.

A bit more blue today, but it seems to be mixed overall.

Ho hum.

Stan - 27 Oct 2005 12:04 - 133 of 1427

55,

Further to your comment regarding that Barclays "50 Free trades" offer.

Just had a look Into their terms/conditions, catch seems to be that they have an admin charge of 25 inc.vat. per quarter...on every account!

I also notice that their 12 dealing charge Is online only, If you want or have to use the phone the cost is 25. 1-20 trades.

Squaregain still has the overall edge In overall cost terms In my view, what do you think?

55011 - 27 Oct 2005 12:27 - 134 of 1427

Stan,

Not keen on admin fees, especially during periods when trading might be light. For PEP/ISA they may be unavoidable.

Just another case of "free lunches", in the long run Barclays do all right. Nevertheless 500 up front takes a bit of offsetting, it is five years fees - ignoring your point about telephone charges.

Fred1new - 27 Oct 2005 13:54 - 135 of 1427

They seemed ot have reduced quarterly charges. the last deduction I had was 70 per account.

It might be interesting to see how long the 25 /quarter is for. The problem is escaping from the Bs when you have holdings in a share and don't want to BorS.

The note I sent both of you on CFDs charges on suspended shares makes one think and be even more cautious.

Going through my portfolios placing stop losses on the few profit making ones I have got.

Have a nice day.

Fred1new - 27 Oct 2005 14:22 - 136 of 1427

Just spoken to EPML about CFDS in Sipps. Can set up a separate dealing account for CFDS within the current SIPP keeping my arrangement with Squaregain for other dealing. They upgrade the account and also the fees for running the CFDs , about 350 !!!!!!! a year. The account can be terminated and the SIPPs return to old charges.

I can arrange the CFD company with my own choice.

Interesting still thinking!!!!!!! But tempted to try.

Stan - 27 Oct 2005 15:31 - 137 of 1427

A further point about those 50 free trades Is that they have to be used up before 31st december.

Thats an average of 4.5 trades a week, which at a guess Is more then I am likely to need, therefore It's not of benefit to me.

I think It's probably aimed at some Inexperienced newcomer who thinks he/she Is going to be

A millionaire whilst daytrading his/her way to wealth.

Fred,
Having to pay Interest on suspended shares (CFD's) seems that that could prove rather expensive
and lead to uncontrollable costs, don't like the sound of that.

Fred1new - 27 Oct 2005 16:09 - 138 of 1427

I think research on choice of Share will have to be more careful than at present.
