HARRYCAT - 08 Sep 2010 08:25 - 1200 of 3666

Or not! Now 102p.

required field - 08 Sep 2010 09:24 - 1201 of 3666

Just can't pull away from this area.....frustrating.....probably needs an update and a positive one at that....

halifax - 08 Sep 2010 09:54 - 1202 of 3666

rf news of the arrival of the oil containment vessel should do it.

aldwickk - 08 Sep 2010 13:31 - 1203 of 3666

Can it be seen on google earth ?

kuzemko - 08 Sep 2010 14:14 - 1204 of 3666

or maybe large funds are buying this stock and brokers with MM are suppling them with the right price.

ptholden - 08 Sep 2010 18:18 - 1205 of 3666

As I suspected the SP did not break out last week and now in the process of yet another retracement...grrrr. Sub 100p to the mid 90s is quite possibly on the cards. Hopefully a short lived dip!

halifax - 08 Sep 2010 18:24 - 1206 of 3666

pth why when next month production will start ramping up to the year end target of around 50000bopd?

Chris Carson - 08 Sep 2010 19:07 - 1207 of 3666

I tend to agree with ptholden, short for now @ 101.1, tight stop, tgt 85.0 or date of shareholding meeting on 21st, whichever comes first.

halifax - 08 Sep 2010 19:55 - 1208 of 3666

we tend to disagree no reason to short after their recent good results and likely imminent positive news about the arrival of the oil containment vessel from the far east which will trigger a substantial increase in production. Don't forget when production reaches 60000bopd AFR will be producing as much as TLW which has a market cap almost 10 times AFR.

HARRYCAT - 08 Sep 2010 20:59 - 1209 of 3666

Chart traders will be short, regardless of what may happen in the next month or two. As the broker said in post #1175, buy on any weakness, for those who are holding equity.

halifax - 08 Sep 2010 21:12 - 1210 of 3666

harry what morgan said was any short term weakness is an opportunity to add, in front of positive news which will come shortly. If you want to short go ahead but beware you might be caught short!

ptholden - 08 Sep 2010 21:29 - 1211 of 3666

My first point of support is bang on 100p which equates to both SP trendline support (although this is a very new trendline and needs at least one more test to be viewed as such) and a support line on the RSI. If this doesn't do the business, I think 90p is a strong possibility. I have no intention of reversing my position but will add on any further weakness. I reallydon't see 85p, but I guess, never say never.

cynic - 08 Sep 2010 23:16 - 1212 of 3666

i agree with all except harry! ...... to short AFR is dangerous bordering on suicidal, and for bugger all potential gain

Chris Carson - 09 Sep 2010 12:01 - 1213 of 3666

cynic - Would you be so kind, just for future reference, to post all the stocks that in your opinion would be dangerous, bordering on suicidal, and for bugger all gain :o)

Seriously though, I just try to trade what I see. (Tried trading what I wanted to see many times, amazingly never worked.)

Made money on SB bought @ 96 sold @ 103 +7. Currently short with tight stop. It's a game not life and death!

cynic - 09 Sep 2010 16:35 - 1214 of 3666

if you want a game, go and play tiddlywinks with mitzy - she needs company

for myself, after a horrid earlier part of the financial year, all now much rosier after a very successful 2009/2010 ...... clearly i don't call entirely wrongly even without research

Balerboy - 09 Sep 2010 16:37 - 1215 of 3666

if you want wrong call....look no futher than asos.......my shins are black and blue where i've kicked my self....emu

halifax - 09 Sep 2010 16:44 - 1216 of 3666

healthy volume today awaiting news of arrival of oil containment vessel and the start of Ebok pumping.

cynic - 09 Sep 2010 16:49 - 1217 of 3666

i called that one wrong too as i have a short running there which i'll prob close tomorrow .... still, my short on CNT sure worked a treat and haven't done so badly with one on FOGL

jimmy b - 09 Sep 2010 21:14 - 1218 of 3666

I also think shorting this one is a dangerous move ,it could spike up at any time as there is no negatives really ,i've only ever shorted bad news ,but if your right then well done ..

HARRYCAT - 13 Sep 2010 15:02 - 1219 of 3666

London, 13 September 2010 - "Afren plc and Black Marlin Energy Holdings Limited ("Black Marlin") (TSX-V: BLM) are pleased to announce that Black Marlin has received the approval of the required majority of shareholders for the acquisition by Afren plc.

At Black Marlin's General Meeting held on Friday 10th September in connection with the proposed acquisition of Black Marlin by Afren, all resolutions were approved by the requisite majority of shareholders.

The acquisition combines two portfolios that offer a complementary fit, providing a balanced exposure across the full E&P value cycle of production, development, appraisal and exploration. Black Marlin's portfolio of assets represents an attractive, multi-country entry position in East Africa, a region that has emerged as an exploration province of global interest following recent significant discoveries. The 12 assets located in Kenya, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Seychelles are located in basins with proven or strong evidence of working hydrocarbon systems.

The Afren General Meeting to approve the Ordinary Resolution, pursuant to the Notice of AGM dated 24th August 2010, will be held on 21st September 2010."
