Galleon Holdings (GON)

banjomick - 15 Jun 2004 08:48

INTELLIGENT INVESTING WITH BANJO,well sort of! (Ed-hmmmm-lol)

Galleon Holdings plc has three key divisions:Galleon Entertainment for entertainment type IP,Croco Worldwide for product IP,Phoenix for interactive TV services for broadcasters in China/South East Asia which includes Robot Information Technology (Lushy Assets ('Yunbo')) who are a wireless interactive platform service provider in China who will work alongside Phoenix to enable GON to hold on to a greater part of the generated revenue and so increase the profit margin......think that's the plan! :-)

This makes Galleon Holdings a 'One Stop Shop' to develop and complete new and existing IP's.

New illustrator on Apollospad.com!

She is the kind of girl, who makes life seems better (or maybe a little unfair)

Selina Enriquez is so beautiful, that you think she have manipulated and designed on a computer, and she have a sense of creativeness there makes most people look pale and boring.
Shes a professional model have her own company, writing on a book, have a online cartoon and a very aggressive to do charity work.
And very soon she will bring some new cool things to us here in the pad..!"

and on 'Deviant ART'

"I was chosen to illustrate the characters of a world wide online bar muppet sitcom Apollo's Pad - a web TV series with millions of viewers. It's a great honor to work for them."

Not sure there are millions of viewers just yet though but maybe there are!

Cartoon Saloon High-Kicks Its Way Into U.S. With Skunk Fu!

July 16, 2008

"Launching SKUNK FU! into the U.S. entertainment market marks a major milestone for Cartoon Saloon," said CEO, Paul Young. "Our toy licensee partner, Galleon Ent., is in negotiation for the sale of SKUNK FU! merchandise across America. We are also commissioning work on a second season of SKUNK FU! and a feature-length film based on the characters."

Chart.aspx?Provider=EODIntra&Code=GON&Si

The chart above shows the start of the sudden rise back in April 2007 (before official news was released on China ect) due it would appear from (along with a steady flow of announcements before):

"Such is the success of the product in market that the Company is confident of
multiple recurring orders and in particular a further roll out of the product to
the substantial markets of Asia and Latin America.

Galleon's Product IP Division alone has recorded sales over the last 12 months
in excess of 3.2 million."

http://moneyam.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/200704110700436489U.html

Croco announcements still kept coming along with Skunk Fu updates and others which accumulated to THE announcement in October 2007 of the Phoenix deal which GON's presence in China had been hinted at some months before then started to materialise!

http://moneyam.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/200710230702271636G.html

Within the above announcement an 8million 'placing' was secured at 29p per share.

Since then,a further acquisition has been bought with the money raised from the placing IE Yunbo, this enables Phoenix to keep more of the profits from the mobile side of things, all relating to China.

In my opinion the drift down is caused by short term goings on as GON are at a key stage in their development but are yet to justify the 29p bought during the placing. This is perfectly normal behaviour regarding the SP and if seen in conjuction with last interims:

http://moneyam.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/200806270700116741X.html

It is obvious to me that GON are building up a major presence within China/SEA with a market potential others can only hope for!

Still has risk as all shares do but a very exciting prospect over the next 6 months,in my opinion.dyor ect ect ect

Interesting article relating to the Olympics and advertising:

By DAVID BARBOZA
Published: July 20, 2008

"China, already the worlds second-largest advertising market, after the United States, is a dream for consumer product companies. For most international brands here, China is the growth market for the next 10 years, said Jonathan Chajet, strategic director at Interbrand, which consults on brands.

A record 63 companies have become sponsors or partners of the Beijing Olympics. Olympic-related advertising in China could reach $4 billion to $6 billion this year, according to CSM, a Beijing marketing research firm."

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/20/sports/olympics/20ads.html

Also from the above link:

"Now those global brands are trying to extend their reach beyond Chinas wealthiest cities. But Chinas growing economic clout and increasing nationalism among its youth as well as the newfound strength of its homegrown brands pose challenges for foreign companies trying to woo its growing middle class.

For most international brands, this is a double-edged sword, said Mr. Chajet of Interbrand. Theyre premium, high-tech and status brands. But theres rising nationalism, and the Olympics is a rallying cry for the Chinese, who are looking for a reason not to buy foreign.

In a general view the above is very positive as GON via Phoenix/Yonbo have integrated themselves within China's established media to take advantage of the 'rising nationalism' while also keeping a door open for their own IP's along with any third parties where GON can then judge if suitable for this region.

Picking 'Super Soccer Star' as GON's (via Phoenix) first TV venture has to be seen as a very wise choice as it ticks all the right boxes eg youth, sport and competition in a region where seeing to be doing the right thing is still very important IE Government wise. All in my opinion of course.

Agreement with Hunan Television in China

Galleon Holdings plc (AIM: GON), an AIM listed entertainment media company focused on the emerging markets, is pleased to announce that it has secured a contract with Hunan Television ('HNTV') to develop and facilitate interactivity for a range of programmes to be broadcast on its Entertainment Channel.

Under the terms of the agreement, Galleon's Chinese operation, Phoenix, a provider of interactive entertainment services to broadcasters in China and South East Asia, will work with HNTV to develop interactive game play, functionality and content applications for seven shows to be broadcast on the Entertainment Channel over the coming year. Galleon will also be responsible for the billing and fulfilment of all mobile or telephone based interactive activity, which is enabled by its acquisition of Yunbo, a mobile service provider in China, in February 2008. Revenue will be earned on a profit share basis.

HNTV is one of China's leading provincial broadcasters with an audience reach of 67 million. It has a reputation for delivering cutting edge entertainment formats to the China market.

Commenting on the syndication, CEO of Galleon Holdings, Stephen Green said:

'We are delighted to be working at such a strategic level with another leading broadcaster in China. This is a testament to the expertise of the Phoenix team and its strong relationships with broadcasters in the country. The combined audience of these seven shows presents us with a significant opportunity to generate revenues through interactive channels and applications.'

Not sure how accurate this article is but:

China has 592 million Mobile Phone users

Ranking the highest in population levels, China also boasts to be on the top position in regards to Mobile Phone owners as well. Yes! Thats true that Chinas mobile phone ownership has crossed the 592 million mark.

As the landline phone requirement goes down, Mobile usage soars in the Chinese markets. The Mobile Phone accounts rose by 44.8 million through the end of May and in contrast fixed-line accounts fell by 6.5 million to 358 million. The highly populated country is known to possess latest and various varieties of phones.

It was also noted that most of mobile users carried multiple phones for personal and work. This piling of mobile phones in Chinese markets has benefited the popular mobile phone carrier, China Mobile which boasts about its huge customer base which is more than 400 million. There is saying that Everything in a particular limit is Good, hope China limits its mobile phone usage or the day would be very near, where we will have a mountain of mobile phones on our lawns.

Don't take as fact as like above the figures appear to be from 'wikipedia':

Chinas Internet Population Reaches 221 Million, surpassing US

China is the populated country in the world. Now it also has the highest number of Internet users. According to reports more than 221 million people in China were accessing internet by the end of February 2008

By the end of 2007, 210 million internet users were located in China; while, 215 million of Americans were taking advantage of the internet service. However the situation changed in February 2008, when the number of Chinese internet users went up to 221 million.

Chinas progress here is significant. In the beginning of 2007, 137 million internet users were reported in China, which increased by more than 53 percent by the beginning of 2008.

Internet is also censored in China, where the government employs an elaborate system of filters and tens of thousands of human monitors to survey surfing habits, surgically clipping sensitive content.

Happy to be aboard the Galleon.........................still! :-)
