Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

butane,

The trades screen decides what the trade has been based on the bid and offer when the bargain is struck the bid was 0.70 and the offer was 0.80 when your trade went through therefore the system interprets it as a sale. Please see disclaimer shown below from the trades page:

Disclaimer

All analysis on this trades page is intended only as a guide and its accuracy is not guaranteed. It should not be used for investment purposes.

It should be noted that all trade declarations made by the market do not include a buy or sell indicator and therefore we have to derive this information ourselves. The policy we have adopted is based on the mid price of the stock at the time of the declaration. For example, a trade declared at a price that is higher than the mid price at the time of declaration would be put in the buy column, a trade lower than the mid price would be put in the sell column. A trade which matches the mid price would be considered unknown. Please also note that the market can delay declaration of the trades for up to an hour in which case we will not make any assumptions and place that trade in the 'unknown' column. Please also note that many investors are able to buy and sell within the spread and also users of level 2 systems will actually be buying at the perceived sell price, these trades might therefore appear to be wrongly categorised.

Eric,

Thanks to this mornings dip I have joined your 1,000,000 club.

corehard - 26 Jul 2005 13:43 - 1210 of 2787

WT - Welcome to the club !

EWRobson - 26 Jul 2005 14:00 - 1211 of 2787

Well done, WT; hope moneyplus joins us before it is 'too late'! Markusantonius; you need to concentrate a bit more on the fundamentals and not then be tempted to take a mere 25% profit! So get back in and hold with a review at 1.5p and not before, there's a good boy.

Still getting good sd jokes, I see - I particularly like the 'bono fido' one. I thought my own from the SEO thread was good, as I would, re sd dreaming of bones and 'n.b.SEO'. I'm afraid I've caught this Su Doku craze so am wondering what our intelligent doggy friend makes of that? Su 'dog'u is too obvious and not allowed.

Eric

stockdog - 26 Jul 2005 14:14 - 1212 of 2787

Didn't Johnny Cash sing a song (if you can call that tuneless voice singing!) about a Dog Named Sue?

Is Su doku patented and who by? I'd like to buy some shares in that company whilst the craze lasts. I have been known to dabble myself and have to say I have not been defeated yet. I have heard of but not seen a hexadecimal 4X4 array version - would like a crack at one of those.

Of course, oriental scholars amongst you will know that in Japanese the 'u' after an 's' is practically silent - which perhaps suggests the way it should be correctly pronounced!

Walktall
Welcome aboard.
Now all you need is to forget that you have them for a while, ride the rollercoaster and think of something nice and expensive that you would like in around a years time to alleviate the boardem.
Nothing more than two bedrooms though LOl, or Dogrooms in Sd's case
Stevie

Walktall - 26 Jul 2005 15:54 - 1214 of 2787

Thanks everybody. Onwards and upwards.

moneyplus - 26 Jul 2005 17:42 - 1215 of 2787

couldn't hold out any longer--you are all so persuasive so I confess I am now a potential millionaire ! so DGT go to it!

stevieweebie - 27 Jul 2005 10:01 - 1216 of 2787

Well done MP, live long and prosper as one well known vulcan would say

corehard - 27 Jul 2005 15:49 - 1217 of 2787

Lots of weight on buys today.... still no effect on SP ?

EWRobson - 27 Jul 2005 22:29 - 1218 of 2787

Well done moneyplus - was sure you would demonstrate your womanhood!

Well done, sd - mean to say you crack those 'fiendish' ones? thought they would have doggy version with a 'houndish' one. I was 99% there this morning when two '6's appeared in one column; shouldn't be allowed. After all, 666 is the number of the beast; probably a hound and the stuff of nightmares.

As for DGT, interesting to see the amount of movement on relatively low volumes. Imagine what will happen when the good news breaks and all God's children, together with fiendish hounds, want to jump on-board. Three weeks or so to go - do we have an actual date? Should be simple to do the accounts; after all, they just need to look at this thread and they have the answers ready-made.

I did the audit a couple of days ago, Eric. Just need to find a couple of directors prepared to sign off my compliance letter and the B/S - lol!

Judging by those 1m buys today, I get the impression we might be starting on the run up to the Interims. Still time to make a substantial profit in just under a month or so. 'Bout time we started some serious ramping! Err, on second thoughts, DGT doesn't need ramping, so I'll just sit and watch.

moneyplus - 28 Jul 2005 00:20 - 1221 of 2787

sd-don't forget to agree the generous dividend! lol

ptholden - 28 Jul 2005 08:07 - 1222 of 2787

From OAK HOLDINGS Interims released today, Can't say I remember this one and it isn't in my financial model for DGT. Or perhaps senility is setting in. :-))

.In April at the time of the preliminary results announcement, we successfully
raised 1.1 million, net of expenses, through a share placing. The Directors
believe that the Company now has sufficient working capital, together with
anticipated consultancy income, to take the YES! Project through to planning
consent on the revised programme.

Paulo2 - 28 Jul 2005 08:42 - 1223 of 2787

Add another name to the millionaire's club, guys. That 290k trade just takes me over.

EWRobson - 28 Jul 2005 10:06 - 1224 of 2787

Just topped up an odd couple of hundred at 0.76p. That price will be history before very long. Got embarrassed by being almost down to the million. Glad sd is being certified; he'll be getting one of these passport implants next!

Eric

So you should be!
Have been posting over on ADVFN for a few days.
Judging by the on line limits and general market activity, I think a 'big' seller has been offloading into the current strength of the SP. Bit at a time, so as not too cause any volatility and I assume (rightly or wrongly) that it is GHW. The good news is that this appears to have been going on for a couple of weeks now and their remaining 19m or so must be nearly gone. Keep an eye on the on line limits which will let us know when the MMs are short again.
Could of course be totally wrong and it's just PIs getting bored / nrevous and selling.
