Yes Hilary Cornwall too, and Dil I completely understand the "cheap labour from Europe" keeping the wages and conditions down over here, but just think do you really believe that the Government will stop bringing cheap labour in from the rest of the World if Brexit were to happen..of course not!

"Got a bloody road not far from me with a sign on it saying paid for by the EU. It was not bloody paid for by the EU as we sent them twice as much as we get back so the sign should read paid for by the UK twice over."
But there's the assumption that the money would actually have been spent by us.. with the evedence of a Conservative Government I would say it would not.

CT.
The Housing Market represents the fears of the general market and personal confidence and personal security "feeling" and is often a precursor to what "people" are thinking about what is going to happen.
Hilary,
The Brexit referendum was as you stated, a demonstration of the frustration felt by many over "austerity". It was a vote against Cameron and Osborne and government policies.
The "getting back control" and other promises were camouflage and not indicative of the result and chaos which "exiting" will cause.
The UK will still have to bow to International Laws, Rules and Regulations, but with less "authority" to "modify" them.
The goals and consequences of the stupidity of exiting were not explained.
Just for the satisfaction of the "Up and at 'em brigade" of bar stool stalwarts.
The problem is that the present dishonest bunch of MPs (Left and right) doesn't have the "guts" to admit that Brexit is a mistake and force "another referendum" with the probable consequences explained.)
But watch the flow of investment from the UK to Europe and the City to Paris and Brussels etc..)
It is bloody daft.

The employers defined the levels of pay.
The government could modify the "rates" of pay or as well as "subsidised" key "occupations". (They already do so. But period extensions are possible to many areas. The problem is that taxation is then being to utilised for uneconomical often privately owned businesses.)

Dumbo.
I am just sad not angry.
My guesses are that I am protected against what is likely to happen if a so-called "Hard Brexit" goes through. But many of the public are not as fortunate and will suffer unnecessarily.
But with luck, your gloating will be misplaced.

Fred, If you were a young person waiting to get on the housing ladder you would be delighted to see the prices falling I expect, so a silver lining for some I assume.
The housing market outside of London has been driven to some extent by the buy to let markert. due to such low returns on cash, many have invested in property, getting those than cannot get a mortgage to buy their property for them. To controll the spiral in home prices, the laws should give tenants a right to buy, which may be a solution to prevent the rich using housing the poor as a way to get richer. Let the rich invest in commercial enterprises and property by all means but not trade on the misery of the poor.
So Brexit may well help lower the entry level for those wishing to buy rather than rent.
