Greekman set me off on my train of thought. It is highly speculative and should be taken with more salt than is good for you, but.
What if WM were placing an order with NW for the 4 things mentioned, to gain some sort of exclusivity for a product they really like and want, but were not prepared to buy any more until the results of a trial of Starpol were known with Asda. They would hardly wish to announse to the world that they were dangling NW on a string, and they could be using the trial and limited PLA order to play SEo off against NW, in the negotiating stakes.
This would account for the shortness of the Asda trial period, and the lack of RNS from USA. WM would be in a much stronger position if NW and SEO were ignorant of the position regarding the other, and WM are a famous bully of their suppliers.
Like I said, speculative and IMHO. But it may get someone else thinking who comes up with more realistic scenarios.

morning all. just to add my tuppence worth. seo were one of many showing off their wares at the exhibition in birmingham and at the conference in usa. so far we have heard of nothing that has come about from the uk exhibition and nothing from the usa conference. i don't understand the need for speculation when all it does is build up false/unrealistic hopes. why not just wait for news?

Dormar - 24 Oct 2005 10:25 - 12121 of 27111

Alan

This is my scenario.

SEO are negotiating with Walmart to take Greenseal and Starpol. But before announcing anything, three things must happen;

1) The results of the ASDA 30 day Starpol trial must be positive

2) If Walmart are to take Starpol, SEO will have to have the manufacturing capability for the sort of volumes that Walmart might need. ( although Walmart may well wish to have a staged introduction of Starpol in much the same way that they are dealing with natureworks and the phased introduction of PLA packaging ).

3) The FDA must give approval for Starpols use in relation to the relevant foodstuffs. ( timing unknown ).

This could take some time, but doesn't preclude the possibilty of SEO and Walmart announcing some form of tie-up in the meantime.

Could the next RNS be something to do with the manufacture of Starpol in the USA?

I agree with you.

There is more speculation on this board than there is in the shares.

My thoughts exactly, although you have put it in a slightly different way, but it's basically what I was hinting at.

Baza,
The fugure of 4 was in the report via the link. As to my comment re Starpol and the possibility of far more orders than NatureWorls PLA, as has been stated, by me it is pure speculation and is as someone else said to be taken as such, ( with that mentioned pinch of salt ). But reading between the lines ( yes it might be through rose tinted glasses ) it does look promising.

The last view posts have been varied in their contents, many with opposing views, but isn't it great to have all these views well augued ( without the sometimes previously childish comments ). We appear to be all speculating at the moment, probably down to no solid news. Time will tell who is right.

Bosley,

I agree in part, at the end of the day nothing official has been released-however typically, with ANY company, information is seeping out and this points (obviously not the word of God!) to a Walmart deal-we all know this, and hope it!!

If people dont like the speculation, dont read internet BBs!!!!

Obviously we are all going to have to wait for news, but trying to get a jist of possible scenarios is not criminal.... :-)

KingKonggb - 24 Oct 2005 12:53 - 12128 of 27111

Even if or should I say when, we get some sort of deal with Walmart, don't expect it to be anything major. It's gonna be just a case of dipping there toes in first. Although the ASDA trial of Starpol will surely herald the way to a full blown committment.

IMHO

Amities Bugz.........Slt . Hence the origin of the adage " Buy on rumour . Sell on fact. What a boring place the marketplace would be if everyone only bought on 100% pure fact ....... ,,, As it happens i dont particularly like this stock; l think SEO have spread themselves very thin .But i let the market be my friend and after the recent weeks RNS coming on the back of T&G reckie of 21p and subsequent sudden leap from 14.75 to 18.5 was too much to ignore ...( as such i traded it in excess of 10 times ...,,,- and again as such it has once again become a true traders stock Thats not a nice position for true investors and totally distorts the true picture of SEO,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT ! lf this SEO is as good as many of you seem to think { and i was ONE of them up until recently } then PLEASE tell me why the big guns are not in the midst of battle. ? Why ? Thats a very SIMPLE question so please do not feed me that utter nonsense about a stock only " coming on the radar " of the big boys when a certain criteria such as its indices , m/c or s/p being attained . l know of more than 20 small minnows with an s/p of less than 8p where banks to lnvestment houses are backing them to the absolute hilt. Six of these 70% bank backed so why no instutional support for SEO ?? .Why ? @+ J ..

TheFrenchConnection - 24 Oct 2005 13:45 - 12134 of 27111

Bhunt ...Sincerest of apologies B if i have this wrong . But you are a fervent supporter of SEO are you not ? Then why would you be applying level 2 which is strictly a tool for day/short term traders ...Merely curious ...@+ J .....

Just had this reply from Neville Harris at Stanelco...all reads good to me. I am sure he won't mind me posting it on here:

James, apologies for the delay in replying ...Monday was my first day back
from hols and I had to be out again all day yesterday.

We will certainly update the market more fully when we issue a pre-close
update, sometime around the end of this month (the year end is October)and
if there is anything material before then, of course we will let folk know.

We all feel generally that there is quite a lot of "shorting" going on in
the market, particularly over the last week and in the short-term there is
not a great deal we can do. In the meantime, the company is working out the
best way to proceed with the starch filters project and is pressing on with
both Greenseal and the other products out of the Biotec portfolio.

Everyone at the company is just as frustrated as you about the share price,
but until the profits start to flow through, we must accept that valuing
Stanelco is more art than science and this provides hedge funds etc with an
opportunity.

We are all trying to be patient, but some days it's not easy!!

stockdog - 24 Oct 2005 13:50 - 12136 of 27111

Dormar - thanks for reminding me of my chemistry. But is it laevo- or dextro- lactic acid? As you know, I am sure, this comes in two chemically similar but physically differently conformed optical isomers. One form or other could well be favoured by GM methods. One form or other could well behave differently under RF treatment.

Don't want to play the boffin, but you have got me started on something that might be interesting to others.

hewittalan6 - 24 Oct 2005 13:52 - 12137 of 27111

Tut, tut, TFC.
There are nos uch things as supporters of a stock in the pi game. We all just take a position, long or short, depending on our views. Are you trying to bait people?
Level 2 is not strictly a tool for anyone. in particular. It is a tool for anyone who wishes to pay for it, to use just as they wish.
I would have thought that such an esteemed trader / investor as yourself would realise that the quality of ones trading / investing is heavily dependant on the quality and quantity of tools at your disposal, and it would be a fool indeed, who didn't use a tool that was available to them, regardless of their own feelings about a stocks quality.

Good question. One can only assume that those that have looked at it, have decided that there is still too much risk attached to this share at the current share price.
