Anyway...as it's the Christmas period : a little true story....;
"The Oilie Hound" :
As a child I lived in Cornwall near a lovely beach around the time of when the torrey canyon oil tanker ran aground.
Well it was just my luck that I as an eight year old I was given the duty to take the family's pet dog basset hound;... appropriately named :"Humphrey" for a good long walk.......
Destination the beach : a good half mile away......off I went with the hound in tow...
Arrived on this beautiful slightly peppled dream of a spot with the sands covered in seaweed and ....this awful black stuff everywhere....Crude ! slick !...
This rascal of a basset hound I unfortunately discovered to my peril could easily slip his noose and free himself....starts rolling himself all over in the seaweed black oil mix...with me panicking...after a wrestle...(this dog was nearly as long as myself !.....when turning corners nearly has to reverse ...you know...extreme sausage dog..!...)...anyway...I dragged this beast eventually away from the beach...towing him uphill back to the path with him pulling back all the time...
Got back to where the path leads to home and I thought phew !...when he slips his lead again...and heads through this opening which led into somebody's garden !...there he was in this beautiful garden with neatly trimmed hedges and such...immaculate lawn like wimbledon !..anyway.....what on earth possessed these proud garden owners to put out a Persian carpet to dry out on the lawn this beautiful sunny day ?!...I'll never know...?
right in front of their bungalow....beats me ??....real target for drastic hounds I would have thought....
Guess what ?;...this blickin' four legs hooligan decides : time to roll and dry oneself on their luxury item.....! seaweed with torrey canyon crude et all...with me shouting behing the hedge and then trying to drag the hound off the rug....
Eventually....I got him away with the owners in hotpursuit.....jesus......
Ran all the way home....got within ten yards of home and safety....and he slips the lead again !......half a mile back to the beach....starts rolling again in the muck...
.....same thing again....and to cap it all somehow he manages to have another go on the rug a second time round in the "carpet garden" !....on the way back...
Got back home..."last time I will ever take the dog for a walk" I said......will never forget it !...
As an epilogue it ended up with the bungalow owners ringing my parents several times kicking up bloodyhell about "Your blessed dog has ruined our Persian carpet" !......that was an unforgettable day !...how the Torrey Canyon disaster affected my life directly!..
ends.....

Good Luck hermana.....and don't forget to take some profit along the way.
