MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

If that is the case though, why are people selling. Bad News?
Better not do an Antisoma or I will be pissed off having got more in Sept.

well the news was a day late for which I apologise..but the news was great all the same although the time scale has upset some people by all accounts..but as DB has said 2005 should be an excellent year so heres hoping.

goldfinger - 17 Dec 2004 23:08 - 129 of 2444

Yup some great news in there with the report.

cheers GF.

Mitzy, do you still believe 4 by end of 2005?
I cannot understand why this is languishing around 60p if the potential for 2005 is so great, what is going on? I don't suppose the institituions who stumped up cash at 70pence per share are too impressed at the moment either.
When will we get the good news that drives this further?

momentum - 02 Jan 2005 16:25 - 131 of 2444

Technically chart is very weak, last break up from 58p found resistance at the 200 ema at 62p.One rule of thumb is to never buy a stock while its trading below its long term average. Long term mmg could be a huge, however short term until with have some further news on trials etc , SP imo will be driven technically which unfortunately at present will be to continue with the downtrend.

Guy's, I have posted here before as a long, long term medical marketing holder....... I held it when it was 'bioscience innovation' listed on ofex.
I have topped up since but am becoming increasingly frustrated at the illogical swings. It does shadow the ftse but with greater swings. In my opinion the only real potential for this share to go big is a takeover.
I think that due to the structure of the company it is slightly too 'vague' for the big institutions to take any great holdings, however if one of the big bio's takes a shine to one of the incubated lines I think a takeover could be on the cards.
I know there are potentialy explosive products in the pipieline, but that has been the case for some years and I have not retired on this one yet!!!
I am still bullish and will hold but not as in love as before

good luck
rob

We should recieve news on the start of Ruthenium trials within the next 2 weeks which is the news we have been waiting for.I agree that short term the sp is looking weak but as soon as we have the start of the trials date we should see some support...400p is still possible if the trials are fast tracked within 12 months .

mitzy - 04 Jan 2005 12:04 - 134 of 2444

Old news but worth posting again.

Investors Chronicle page 28..

The New Blockbusters.

Tiny technology management group MMI has developed a range of cancer compounds from the metal Ruthenium through its "Baby Bio" company Oncosense.
"Platinum was a blockbuster drug with $5 billion sales and one of the most commonly used cancer drugs" said David Best
"We have 16 Ruthenium compounds that actually work better than Platinum".
Oncosense is also working on cancer drugs developed from Pineapple. And MMI through a joint venture with Southampton University, is developing a cancer vaccine that fools the body into thinking cancer cells are tetanus.
While the cancer market is compelling, though, remember thatit is highly risky. There is a high failure rate with many drugs still failing phase 3 trials. This is because it is difficult to replicate human cancer in pre-clinical models.

Moved up 3p last week and over 3p today so things are looking up..a possible 10 bagger according to IC but I would be happy with 200p in 12 months time.

goldfinger - 18 Jan 2005 11:28 - 137 of 2444

Yup read that in the IC. Things look good for this year.

cheers GF.

rob308 - 20 Jan 2005 17:34 - 138 of 2444

Looks like we have pushed through an upper resistance level on the chart, will be topping up in the morning................... good vibes for the new year.......... Cheers..... Rob

mitzy - 20 Jan 2005 20:40 - 139 of 2444

This will be my only exciting one of the fortnight - it's like watching paint dry the rest of the market. Should pay for my next holiday:)
