Very helpful, dexter, bringing back those old quotes. PET's backing team will all be in place, including the heavy boys like Caterpillar. PET's own role is bound to be primarily the front men - convenient for the Ministry if much of the backing is US. Perhaps we should expect PET's stake not to be mega percentage-wise, only mega in euros (quite happy with those, even dollars!).
Horgan must be going out for Procurement Conference. They will have the final response to deliver, won't they, over which they have been burning the candle-light. Time for another lovely Livvy letter?

Eric
I understood from the most recent poster on another bb that DH (or was it JT)was appearing a tad irritated with the endless and admittedly pointless enquiries he was getting.
Ive no wish to piss the man off and would prefer to engage in some post-contractual discussion, if you get my drift. At least I was assured that he said as much as he could say and I wholeheartedly agreed with his views on bbs, both in terms of deramping and ramping commentary. Both are equally mindless and I have been particularly concerned with a serial ramper on another bb whose empty optimism and pretended contacts have become extremely irritating.
I honestly received the email I did and wrote in the terms I did.
My powder, accordingly, is being kept dry. We could usefully discuss a corporate approach in the next while BUT ONLY WHEN there is some information to mull over and about which we can seek clarification.

International exhibition
The Iraq Procurement exhibition will offer the opportunity for companies to showcase the goods and services that will prove essential in aiding the development of Iraq. It will open on Monday 22 November 2004, with an official tour for VIP delegates.
Meet the Buyers
The Meet the Buyers forum will enable Iraqi contractors and business leaders to meet with delegates to discuss their immediate and long-term business needs.
The meetings will be held in 20-minute slots, each meeting lasting 15 minutes with five minutes allocated for changeover. Delegates have already had the opportunity to schedule their meetings via our online scheduling capability.
As these have already been scheduled, we ask all delegates to adhere to the structure already outlined; failure to follow this will have a disruptive effect on the event.
Ministerial meetings
Private exclusive meetings will be available to those who have booked them, on a scheduled basis with senior figures from the Iraqi government. These face-to-face meetings will allow delegates to sit down with ministers, deputy ministers, governors, director generals and heads of chambers of commerce.
The meetings will be held in 30-minute slots, each meeting lasting 25 minutes with five minutes allocated for changeover. Ministerial meetings will be held over the course of the three days. It should be noted that the ministers will be running to a very tight schedule; delegates must be punctual, as meetings cannot be rescheduled.
Expert seminars
The conference will include keynote plenary speeches from business and political leaders, plus specific expert seminars providing the necessary insight into doing business in specific industry sectors.
Areas to be covered include:
The announcement of specific projects open to foreign investment
The announcement of contracts and tenders
Industry-specific ministerial round tables
Legal framework and foreign ownership statutes
Financial and banking structures and the security of investments
Successful partnering with regional and international contractors
Industry-specific case studies including education, IT, healthcare, oil exploration and refining, communications, energy projects, banking and finance, agriculture, water and wastewater
Gala dinner
An official gala dinner will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel Amman on Tuesday 23 November 2004. Guests will have the opportunity to relax and network with fellow delegates in a more informal environment.
The dinner will include a four-course meal, followed by a variety of entertainment, including a performance by the legendary Iraqi musician Ilham Al Madfai.
Iraqi Business Exchange
The new Iraq Business Exchange online forum offers Iraqi companies the opportunity to reach the global market to source suppliers, partners and ideas, maintain communication and open dialogue.
The forum allows its members access to corporate delegates, prime contractors and Iraqi businesses. Once given access to the forum businesses are able to post their requirements to companies across the globe, gaining access to news of crucial developments within the Iraqi business market.
The forum offers the following opportunities for members:
To build business relationships
To gauge feedback/interest in their business
To generate enquiries on company goods and services
To prepare for specific project tendering
To give businesses a higher profile
To arrange and confirm meeting times at the event
