FTSE + FTSE 250 - consider trading (FTSE)

cynic - 20 Oct 2007 12:12

rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.

for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ

for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

Sounds expensive from what Cynic says Harry, what makes the middle east such a draw for this F1 as a venue?

HARRYCAT - 21 May 2013 14:32 - 12374 of 21973

It's just a convenient time for two of us to go. We have been to most of the European circuits and the Far East & South America are just too expensive for a short trip. It's the third from last race, so hopefully the championship won't be decided by then and also my mate is an avid Ferrari fan, so he's keen to see the glitzy Ferrari World building.
I suppose it all comes down to what we think it's worth spending our money on! Some do golf, some prefer trawling the bars of Bangkok and some like snorting petrol fumes!

Stan - 21 May 2013 14:34 - 12375 of 21973

O' all right then.. you can go -):

HARRYCAT - 21 May 2013 14:37 - 12376 of 21973

We're so bloody relieved Norwich scraped the last two wins! We need (& so does Delia) a break!!!

cynic - 21 May 2013 15:57 - 12377 of 21973

Stan - because they want it there to promote the place, and chuck Bernie loads of dosh in paper bags to get the nod ..... they're trying to develop Yas island (where F1 circuit is) into another resort, but it'll be yet another rip-off quarter for the mug tourists, just like The Palm in Dubai and indeed, the whole of the Jumeirah strip

Stan - 21 May 2013 16:21 - 12378 of 21973

Sorry, what I actually meant to ask Harry was why is he going specifically to a F1 race in the middle east.

HARRYCAT - 21 May 2013 16:46 - 12379 of 21973

Better quality hookah!

cynic - 21 May 2013 16:49 - 12380 of 21973

definitely some very high class ones there and well out of the league of nearly all here

Stan - 21 May 2013 16:59 - 12381 of 21973

Can you be more specific Harry? -):

halifax - 21 May 2013 19:43 - 12386 of 21973

is the FTSE going to reach 7000 this month, or will sell in May prevail?

skinny - 21 May 2013 21:36 - 12387 of 21973

Sell in May - not so far this year.

Ben B to address Congress later today. Assuming he doesn't bring bad news, which is forecast to be unlikely, then I'm on the side of the 7000'ers, though this month seems a bit optimistic!

Shortie - 22 May 2013 15:29 - 12389 of 21973

Up, up and away..... Can't bring myself to go long, can't bring myself to go short either.... The sidelines are becoming monotonous though!!
