How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Scripophilist - 22 Feb 2005 10:38 - 1268 of 10502

It's down for sure. Maybe another DDOS attack? I wasn't on it this morning so hadn't noticed.

Scripophilist - 22 Feb 2005 10:39 - 1269 of 10502

It it is a IT issue they normally post on this site:-

http://www.betfair.info/

So I am guessing it is something more serious.

Harlosh - 22 Feb 2005 10:52 - 1270 of 10502

What's a DDOS attack Peter?

Spaceman - 22 Feb 2005 11:39 - 1271 of 10502

Harlosh, it stands for Distributed Denial of Service and means that someone is trying to knock their site out by attacking it remotely probably from many places, these attacks vary but typically involve saturating the site with requests which affects its ability to respond.

Harlosh - 22 Feb 2005 17:21 - 1272 of 10502

Many thanks Spaceman.

Evening everyone,

Anyone on the Arsenal and Liverpool games tonight?

Although I'd like all the English teams to do well, my head tells me that both teams may struggle tonight.

Liverpool, without Gerrard, are rudderless and lacking inspiration.

In Munich it's serious brass monkey weather and the Arsenal players are wearing tights and gloves!

Scripophilist - 22 Feb 2005 19:50 - 1274 of 10502

I will be on all five matches this evening!!

Terrible start for Arsenal.

Harlosh - 22 Feb 2005 20:33 - 1275 of 10502

If you had backed all the home teams in the CL tonight you would have done very nicely.

Fundamentalist - 22 Feb 2005 20:46 - 1276 of 10502

Give it time guys

2-1 Arsenal at full time :-)))

Harlosh - 22 Feb 2005 20:52 - 1277 of 10502

Perhaps you should change your name to Optimist Steve. Lol.

Fundamentalist - 22 Feb 2005 20:59 - 1278 of 10502

Make that 3-2 lol

Scripophilist - 22 Feb 2005 21:05 - 1279 of 10502

You should have all bagged that second Munich goal.

Scripophilist - 22 Feb 2005 21:06 - 1280 of 10502

4-3 Fundy?

Fundamentalist - 22 Feb 2005 21:06 - 1281 of 10502

Oh i give up

defending for schoolboys parts 1,2 and 3

Fundamentalist - 22 Feb 2005 21:07 - 1282 of 10502

It wouldnt be so bad if we were losing to a decent team - but munich are not amongst the better teams in the competition

Harlosh - 22 Feb 2005 21:07 - 1283 of 10502

I feel for you Steve.
