How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Having trouble trading all five matches. Getting confused with all the different positions. Almost made some errors there but managed to get on top of it. Any excellent night. Just wish Southampton would pop in a last minute winner to round it off.

Mr Euro, received nochex thanks.

Re Footy, Just watch a crap team like Southampton then you need not worry over difficult champions league fixtures.

Afternoon people,

A bit quiet on here today with Scrip's course in full swing.

Big games on tonight again. Will be at the Reds game so very tempted to back them. I have a gut feeling they'll win. Shevchenko is out for AC and with their ageing defence they won't relish the likes of Ronaldo, Giggs et all running at them.

ManU are in blistering form and will want nothing less than a win victory to take to San Siro

bakko - 23 Feb 2005 15:48 - 1297 of 10502

Just heard on the local news that a number of the AC team have been arrested in town for indecent exposure!

Good-day all, had a cracking % day trading ftse/dow hourly backed all at 'my odds' way away from that shown, ie back the above dow showing 3.2 set my odds @ 5! filled within approx 15 seconds (with next to no price movement) then set lay odds @ 3.5 (to green up) again filled within 10/15 seconds, ha presto 41% profit within 1/2 min, done the same with the ftse 6 times today. I find it best to get in within 10 mins of the 'new hour'...
Good luck on the Soccer later all.....

Well done chartist

Managed to make a modest profit from this morning as there was still money available to back at 1.15 for ftse to close down on day. Very surprised to see this opportunity so took out a big chunk of it. It was pretty well certain that ftse will end down following the mauling of dow and asian indices overnight.

bakko - Thanks, took 2 hits layed daily ftse up/down @ 1.04 + previous 9am hoping for a small retrace! From the other 7 trades ave profit 42.25%..

Anyone on the football tonite?

to me both the away sides look overpriced in the games involving the english clubs - Milan certainly dont look like 4-1 shots!!!

The worrying thing is watching these two games makes Arsenals performance look even more woeful

Fundamentalist - 23 Feb 2005 20:22 - 1302 of 10502

Greened up on Chelsea

Harlosh - 23 Feb 2005 20:28 - 1303 of 10502

Me too Steve. Layed Barca.

Fundamentalist - 23 Feb 2005 20:30 - 1304 of 10502

was expecting chelsea to keep a clean sheet for first half - the goal was a bonus

good game the united match - milan look a good side

Fundamentalist - 23 Feb 2005 21:02 - 1305 of 10502

How on earth does drogba get sent off for that!!!

Fundamentalist - 23 Feb 2005 21:23 - 1306 of 10502

Green on Milan

both sides in a bit of trouble now - not looking like a good week for the english clubs at all

Harlosh - 23 Feb 2005 21:34 - 1307 of 10502

We just can't seem to match the big guns in Europe.

Fundamentalist - 23 Feb 2005 21:37 - 1308 of 10502

Looks like the myth that the premiership is the best league in europe has been exposed yet again

cunningham - 23 Feb 2005 21:39 - 1309 of 10502

Just had ten minutes on the Man U game. Greened up for a few quid. Just trying to get my head round todays course. So much to take in but appreciate more how many opportunities are available. Hopefully will be able to put some of that in to practice in the next few weeks.

Bones - 24 Feb 2005 00:03 - 1310 of 10502

Thanks to Scrip for a fascinating course and I hope to make use of the knowledge in future weeks. Good to meet a few people too.

Hopefully nobody got home in time to back Barcelona early on!

Diego - 24 Feb 2005 08:29 - 1311 of 10502

Great course Scrip, many thanks. Field tested your theories on the football last night. I greened up on Chelsea, Porto and Man U. It was the first time I played the game with confidence.

Many thanks again.

D.
