The more I look the more it looks like Stanelco have stolen this idea and applied it to the EU market where it is not patent protected, this will mean it can not be used in the US.

Patent stealing seems to be becoming a theme if this is correct.

hewittalan6 - 25 Nov 2005 17:25 - 12995 of 27111

Just a thought, but if Lendall have had this product, and it is the same as Stanelcos since 1999, then why would it have gone for FDA approval?
Unless it is the novel application of the product that Stanelco are patenting / getting approved.
Answered my own question, really.
Ignore me. I'm going back to sleep.

Red Erik - 25 Nov 2005 17:42 - 12997 of 27111

Lendall = INEDIBLE STARCH

Stanelco = EDIBLE STARCH

There are loads of things called Starpol it is simply an adjunction of Starch and Polymer and is used by many starch polymer projects and products a simple google search for starpol brings up loads of them

There's not much point in going over and over each instance of Starpol in the world or we will be here for decades

See you all on Monday when the fun will hopefully begin

Ah. Hence the FDA thingy. Well done Erik

Red Erik,

Yes, thanks.

Those knocking SEO will jump at anything that many will beleive. If anyone thinks that with the likes of Asda, ( and obviously Walmart being the parent company ) in the market for Starpol via SEO they would not have done the groundwork prior to the trial period re the ownership of the trial product, they must believe these mega size companies to be ultra gulible.

oblomov - 25 Nov 2005 18:23 - 13000 of 27111

Greekman,

I hope you are not implying I'm trying to knock SEO - far from it, I just posted the info for those interested.

However, Red Erik is completely wrong by stating in effect that 'STARPOL' is a generic term.

We are talking about Registered Trademarks. Registered Trademarks give exclusive use of a Mark to the registrants. Generic terms cannot be registered. There is a real chance of commercial conflict here, like it or not. It matters not that one starch is inedible and the other edible. There is the real likelihood of confusion between the two - that is all you need for there to be a problem

And incidentally, my experience of 'mega sized companies' is that they are often very gullible when it comes to IP.

blinger - 25 Nov 2005 18:29 - 13001 of 27111

Do you mind not constantly repeating the "ROT....." etc on almost every post you make.
....

Yes I do object to not posting whatever and whenever I want-ok??
Would you please admit that SEO is a crock of cack, and will never do anything but attract rampers who failed to take a profit- nope

thought not.

oblomov - 25 Nov 2005 18:35 - 13002 of 27111

Hey blinger, I'm all for you putting 'ROT' in a prominant place on all your posts.

It tells people what they're reading.

blinger - 25 Nov 2005 18:44 - 13003 of 27111

Jeez
reams of cut and paste , always a good sign for shorters, and the sleepy Russian is hard at work ramping- excellent, to paraphrase Joffre(?) ....

"Enemy attacking my flanks, gaining ground, situation excellent- am attacking"

and then lost 2m Frenchmen

greekman - 25 Nov 2005 18:45 - 13004 of 27111

oblomov,

Not implying just looking at facts as I see them. You must agree that several posters who do knock SEO do post anything they can to convince readers that they are a duff company. Whilst not always agreeing with your views, I have no problem with your posts as you do not use abusive language etc, so are as entitled as anyone re your views. The worst thing that can happen to any thread is for all posts to be positive. Negative views make for good debate which is what I hope your posts, mine and others acheive.
My view is as follows
As Red Erick states Starpol is simply an adjunction of Starch and Polymer and is used by many starch polymer projects and products .

IE from the Starpol Info pages.
Novel Polyol Intermediates Derived from Biosustainable Starch for Polymer Technologies - STARPOL ( Starpol is the name for any basic product constituting the above derivative )

Stanelco appear to have taken the basic principle and added 2000 onto the name to define their product.

blinger - 25 Nov 2005 18:49 - 13005 of 27111

Oblomov,
brilliant post , well up to your usual standard, we all admire you greatly, well as
propoganda to short SEO we do.

ROTFFLMFAC&BO

You haven`t got a clue, we all saw you getting a basic education in Level Two from that sixties singer Judith Durham, you are such a laugh, keep up the posts on filthyboots- I post them to my broker Killik and Co., I believe they have a weekly draw on the funniest poster- you win constantly,

OBLOMOV joined filthyboots on 08/06/2005 and ramped constantly- see the result?

LMFAO!!!!!!!

oblomov - 25 Nov 2005 19:51 - 13007 of 27111

Greekman,

I reiterate - STARPOL is a Registered Trade Mark - Stanelco have it in the EU. It is NOT possible to register (and therefor obtain exclusive use) of a generic or descriptive term. The Registered Trademark is STARPOL - not STARPOL 2000. It has no added matter (such as a logo). Stanelco have exclusive use in law of STARPOL for the goods they have registered it for - in the EU.

Lendell have exclusive use in the States for the goods thery have registered it for - no buts.

What do you think the point of a Registered Trade Mark is?

And BTW, I posted the Trade Mark info in response to another post mentioning Lendell's STARPOL in the States.
