Hello Jeffmack, you old banker you. Good to have you back, despite what they say. Pity they don't do Cyprus from Manston yet, you could have had the benefit of a nice cheap flight.

Good evening all, time to dole out the sherry trifle, I'm famished.

Talking about brokers, I've just had a divi from BT and part of their Shareholder Plus benefits is trading shares through Halifax for 1.50 a shot. Don't know any details but if anyone holds BT shares and is interested, have a look at:http://www.bt.com/shareholderplus

amberjane - 06 Sep 2004 17:35 - 12996 of 23498

Hi Jeffers, good holiday then?

Has everyone else drowned in the trifle, know its always got socs in it!

I know it wont be just me but what a wonderful day, hold 19 stocks now and portfolio all blue with some green, NO red!!!

hilary - 06 Sep 2004 17:39 - 12997 of 23498

Amber,

I've got broker accounts galore ...... you can never have too many, imo, as you never know when you might need them. Online certificated, online nominee, private client, cfd and spreadbet plus a couple of specialist fx. I'm loathe to recommend any of them though as what might suit me, won't necessarily suit others. I think you've just got to play about and see for yourself the various pros and cons of each of them.

There are a few that I wouldn't touch with a bargepole. For anything illiquid/aim/ofex, imo, you need a private client broker. There are plenty about. Just pick up the Yellow Pages for your area, ring them up, go and see them and ask them what they can do for you.

Jeffie,

West Upper, eh? Should be ok, but tell them not to wear any colours and not to cheer if Spurs score. And when the Chelsea fans sing ... "The famous Tottenham Hotspur went to Rome to see the Pope .....", or, "We'll be going round Tottenham with our wil***es hanging out", it'll probably be useful if you're in a position to explain the significance of the lyrics to your friends.

:o)

Amber,
Don't you know it's rude to gloat....lol
Seriously, sounds like an excellent day, well done!, might be round for some hints later.

amberjane - 06 Sep 2004 18:00 - 12999 of 23498

Could be a quiet meeting from what I hear SC? Didnt mean to gloat......only it was a first, my only regret was not buying pre as well, mucked around for so long I ran out of time.

Hils, quite! as I found out today having to go back to my old broker. Understand with recommendations so OK, only asked as it sounded like you had a favourite.

chocolat,
Have a care please, quack has given me some concoction which means I can't drink....bugger!

chocolat - 06 Sep 2004 19:04 - 13003 of 23498

You really should take more care with your quacks, Stormie.

Socrates - 06 Sep 2004 19:16 - 13004 of 23498

Stormy
Tea must be OK though, fancy a mug?

Anyway Stormy, MPH AGM this week, could be good for us, got it into the game just at the right time.

STORMCALLER - 06 Sep 2004 19:20 - 13005 of 23498

chocolat,
Sort of get what you get, I am afraid, lucky to see one so quick, rather attractive actually, bit of a therapy in herself....then the knife went in!
Socs,
Tea would be a lifesaver, thank you. As to your master plan, do you think it's fair on the others?.....lol

Socrates - 06 Sep 2004 19:38 - 13006 of 23498
