New Favourites functionality for the Bulletin Boards

IanT(MoneyAM) - 02 Dec 2008 11:58

We have implemented a favourites facility, which enables you to create a list of your favourite threads, so that you can easily view them without having to search back through the other threads.

You will notice towards the left hand side of each thread title there is a grey star icon. To add a thread to your favourites, simply click on this and it will turn gold. You can select as many threads as you want, and then to view them simply click on the orange Display Favourites Only button towards the top left of the bulletin boards.

If you are viewing a thread that you want to add to your favourites, you will notice a grey star next to the thread title on the first post - again just click on this and it will be added to your favourites.

OK - I'll give it a go but since you've implemented the exact reverse of my suggestion perhaps you will amend the header since I deserve neither credit nor blame. TIA

greekman - 02 Dec 2008 15:46 - 14 of 71

Yes excellent idea, from Kernow so thanks to him.

Also thanks to the team for activating it so quickly.
I wish similar sites would consider their customers as MoneyAm does.

Cheers Greek.

Kernow,

I have amended the header. Just a little background on why we did it like this, we feel this represents a better option, as you will be directed to the main BB first thing, can quickly scan to see if you want to add a thread to favourites or take a more in depth look to do the same. You can then go to your favourites, which in essence will be your own personal bulletin board. After time, you will probably build up quite a portfolio.

I am sure you will find it equally as useful as the original suggestion, as it in essence will do the same thing just approached from a more inclusive angle with regard to how you view the information.

Ian, if you're on a thread in your favourites list and you hit the thread list button at the bottom you're taken back to the general thread list not your favourites list.

Big Al - 02 Dec 2008 16:02 - 17 of 71

I think it's a very good idea. Still trying to pick my faves - thanks for the suggestion, MM. ;-)))

kernow - 02 Dec 2008 16:07 - 18 of 71

Sounds like a black = white or 1 = (-1) kind of logic lol

ptholden - 02 Dec 2008 16:11 - 19 of 71

Can I squelch AM?

Ruth - 02 Dec 2008 16:13 - 20 of 71

Big Al, its dead easy for you,;-)
do a search for any thread containing the key words , women, sex , beer,
not neccesarily in that order;-)and add to your fav list;-)))

my fav list is dead easy, if i dont like the person who started it, i wont read it unless the topic interests me,and if i dont like any thread i read i simply dont read it again,
who needs technology;-)))

Big Al - 02 Dec 2008 16:20 - 21 of 71

Ruthy - your logic is as good as ever. ;-)))))

Ruth - 02 Dec 2008 16:26 - 22 of 71

Big Al, you know u can rely on me in an emergency;-)

Big Al - 02 Dec 2008 16:30 - 23 of 71

I love it when you talk dirty. ;-)))

Ruth - 02 Dec 2008 16:41 - 24 of 71

Big Al, ;-)))

Strawbs - 02 Dec 2008 17:08 - 25 of 71

The favourites stars don't appear on a MAC, either next to the topic title or in the thread list.

The "Display Favourites" option in the thread list also appears squashed and only says "Display Favour"

Strawbs.

Hi Strawbs,

Is it on Safari? If so, which version?

Thanks
J.

Stan - 02 Dec 2008 17:24 - 27 of 71

Strawbs,

I had the same problem, just empty the Cache then refresh and bobs your uncle.

ThePublisher - 02 Dec 2008 17:54 - 28 of 71

Well done folks. An added incentive to keep some of those old chestnuts refreshed when they drop into the mists.

Strawbs - 02 Dec 2008 17:56 - 29 of 71

Hi Juraj,

Yes. Version 3.1.2 (4525.22).

The page source has the tag information for the favourites, but it's not being rendered by Safari. Tried that Stan. No change.

Strawbs.

Strawbs - 02 Dec 2008 18:10 - 30 of 71

Seems to be working now... ;-)

Thanks.

Strawbs.

Fred1new - 02 Dec 2008 19:05 - 31 of 71

Very good new function.

Could we have a ZAP button as well.

Promise not to use it to frequently!

Big Al - 02 Dec 2008 21:03 - 32 of 71

What would it do?
