'August 13, 10:33 PM Maple Energy PLC - 18p take it or leave it cash offer Premiumtrader's insight: It has been 3 weeks since the board of directors of Maple Energy plc announced that it had received an approach of a cash offer to acquire the entire issued share capital of the Company. The news sparked a buying frenzy which saw a double digit percentage rise in the share price. Since then the price has taken a drastic downturn as private investors have lost patience with the wait. The large institutions continue to hold stock even in the event of the price bring driven down to a 52 week low. In current market conditions the lack of de-risking by the largest shareholders says it all about what the outcome here will be and probably has been known all along. Broker notes have valued the company only a few months ago between £40-£55 million. At closing price on the 13th August 2014, the MCAP stood at £11.5m. Loss making yes but with asset value higher than debt, the company is prime for a takeover. So where do we stand now? Sources tonight have informed me that a take it or leave it offer has been made of 18p to acquire the company, which the directors are very likely to accept. Why accept an offer of 18p when valuations are well above this? It is not a secret that the company has been struggling recently, mainly with cost control issues. The asset is world class and the revenue also impressive, however it is now time for the company to change hands and efficiency to be improved. I have been in the game a long time and I have seen Blackrock get it wrong a few times, but very very rarely. They are long and why not with an offer now 157% higher than current closing price.
