How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?
Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

We just can't seem to match the big guns in Europe.

Looks like the myth that the premiership is the best league in europe has been exposed yet again

Just had ten minutes on the Man U game. Greened up for a few quid. Just trying to get my head round todays course. So much to take in but appreciate more how many opportunities are available. Hopefully will be able to put some of that in to practice in the next few weeks.

Thanks to Scrip for a fascinating course and I hope to make use of the knowledge in future weeks. Good to meet a few people too.
Hopefully nobody got home in time to back Barcelona early on!

Great course Scrip, many thanks. Field tested your theories on the football last night. I greened up on Chelsea, Porto and Man U. It was the first time I played the game with confidence.
Many thanks again.

Thanks all, A real shame that the horse racing had two out of three meetings cancelled due to the weather and the remaining market was poor quality. Hopefully you learnt enough from the available market to push you in the right direction. Glad to hear some of you put it to immediate use last night. I did manage to grab some money on the Barca and Man U game on the way home on the train!!

Hope you had a trouble free journey Scrip. I got to Waterloo just before 19.00 for the 19.12 train. Cancelled! So I caught the 19.05 fast to Basingstoke which would give me 4 minutes to catch the stopper coming back at 19.54. Fast arrived 4 minutes late at 19.54 dead so I rushed over to the other platform and dived onto the 19.54 stopper. Guard signals departure. No movement. Announcement that driver is unable to get the brake off! Engineers looking. 20 mins later, announcement, still a problem but next train is at 20.24 on Plat 4. Off the train and over we go and finally I get home about 20.40. Can't beat these new Desiro trains! Actually I like them but they seem to have teething troubles. Clearly a PDA is a good idea!

Well done to those who attended Scrip's course and managed to profit straight away.
My team let me and my betfair account down! Luckily, it was only a small wager.
Scrip, May I ask what smartphone/PDA you are using for Mobex access? I can't seem to get a connection inside Old Trafford whereas it's OK albeit slow elsewhere. Probably due to connection oversaturation?
This has happened on previous occasions hence only put a very small wager on last night

"My team let me and my betfair account down! Luckily, it was only a small wager."
I try my hardest to never take a position on my team. That said maybe I should as lay Southampton would have worked for most of the season.
"Scrip, May I ask what smartphone/PDA you are using for Mobex access?"
Last night I was using
http://www.betfair.com/lite/.
It is a smaller transactional version of Betfair which for some reason they are not promoting.
