Appointment of new Chief Executive and Executive Vice-Chairman

Stanelco plc, the RF applications group, is pleased to announce the appointment
of Martin Wagner as Chief Executive Officer. Ian Balchin, who has served the
Company as Chief Executive over the past five years becomes Executive Vice-
Chairman.

Martin Wagner, 49, joined Stanelco in August 2005 as Commercial Director of
Stanelco RF Technologies Limited. Previously Martin was Head of Packaging
Development at ASDA Stores Limited where he spent five years heading up a number
of different commercial teams delivering both significant savings to the
business and leading ground breaking strategic initiatives. Martin was directly
involved in ASDA's adoption of the GREENSEAL technology project. Martin brings
to Stanelco his experience of working directly in the food and beverage supply
industry as well as the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries at director
level. Whilst formerly part of the Executive Management Group at ASDA, Martin
has not held any directorships in the last five years.

Martin Wagner, Chief Executive, Stanelco plc commented: 'I am delighted that Ian
and the Board have given me this opportunity. I am looking forward in particular
to making a major contribution to the adoption of Stanelco's GREENSEAL
Technology and Starpol 2000 packaging materials within the food and retailing
industries.'

LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany (AFX) - BASF AG said it plans to launch next spring on the Euoprean market a new biodegradable plastic based on renewable raw materials.

The product, called Ecovio, is also to be launched in Asia and North America in 2006.

No financial details were disclosed.

In the next five years, BASF expects the world market for biodegradable plastics to grow by more than 20 pct per year.

BASF AG of Ludwigshafen, Germany, is expanding its Ecoflex-brand natural plastic line with Ecovio, a PLA-based product that can be mixed with standard Ecoflex, which is polyester-based.

Ecovio production began in late October at an undisclosed location in Germany, according to biodegradable polymers business head Dietmar Heufel. Heufel and other materials executives spoke at Commercializing Bioresins 2005, an industry conference Nov. 7-9 in Atlanta.

The material is expected to be commercially available in the United States in the second half of 2006 and will be aimed at applications in carrier bags and packaging film.

BASF currently produces about 8,165 tonnes of Ecoflex annually at a site in Ludwigshafen. The firm will add about 5,900 tonnes of annual production of the material early next year in Schwarzheide, Germany.



That means it is no competition to Starpol, it is competition for Natureworks PLA, but at a very low volume in comparison, also it mentions mixing it with polyester, a petrol based plastic, not much point in that from an environmental point of view really

As usual, if news is released, different to one expected, the sells out number the buys. The news released is good news, as obviously the packaging products are going well.

I read it as very positive news as it means that SEO are movung forward to the next stage which means that Ian can focus on the future whilst Martin can focus on bring home the goods on Greenseal and Starpol.

I wonder if it was a promotion on deliverimg a major contract ???

Greekman yes the news is very good, hopefully it will allow EVO to do an update, and we might get some more positive vibes from it, and some more institutional buying

Agree. Also if there was bad news re the 30 day trial, apart from having to release such news they would be treading on very dangerous ground re making statements as those made in the RNS.

Wouldn't that already have been his role as Commercial Director?

As chief executive officer Martin Wagner is now the highest-ranking corporate officer or executive officer of SEO, and the fact that as such he can selects his own team to work with perhaps means they require a bigger team and he has been chosen to lead such a team. He also has the right to hire and fire, which means that he has the opportunity to pick a team that will function, in the probable expansion of the company. This can only be an indication that things are going well.

I believe Martin Wagner was Commercial director for Stanelco RF Technologies Ltd, he's now CEO for Stanelco Plc. This gives him a much bigger stick and overall control of the various subsidiaries.

Greenseal being a product of Stanelco RF Technologies and "Starpol (TM)" supplied by Biotec.

Stanelco Plc being the parent of: Stanelco RF Technologies, Stanelco Inc, Aquasol Limited, Adept Polymers Limited, Biotec...

I too see it as extremely good news, and inidicative of the progress Mr Wagner has made thus far. I presume his commercial skills in this position will add to improved efficiency of Stanelco's commercialisation.

thanks for that - you're quite right. I hadn't made the distinction between the two companies. It makes more sense now.

I have not completely finished my search yet on the STARPOL (TM) issue, but the Staley and Lendell Starpols are completely different materials so I presume one of the reasons for the dual tm, plus their appaerance might have been quite different.

The stanelco Starpol could very well be significantly different to the form of the Lendell product. Its certainly chemically different!
