Any punters living in Birmingham Area interested in a Pie, Pint and jaw, one evening in a pub in Birmingham area.
Personally interested in small time investing(gambling), developing an appetite for CFDs. Also developing an interest in Charting or TA.

55,
Further to your comment regarding that Barclays "50 Free trades" offer.
Just had a look Into their terms/conditions, catch seems to be that they have an admin charge of 25 inc.vat. per quarter...on every account!
I also notice that their 12 dealing charge Is online only, If you want or have to use the phone the cost is 25. 1-20 trades.
Squaregain still has the overall edge In overall cost terms In my view, what do you think?

Stan,
Not keen on admin fees, especially during periods when trading might be light. For PEP/ISA they may be unavoidable.
Just another case of "free lunches", in the long run Barclays do all right. Nevertheless 500 up front takes a bit of offsetting, it is five years fees - ignoring your point about telephone charges.

They seemed ot have reduced quarterly charges. the last deduction I had was 70 per account.
It might be interesting to see how long the 25 /quarter is for. The problem is escaping from the Bs when you have holdings in a share and don't want to BorS.
The note I sent both of you on CFDs charges on suspended shares makes one think and be even more cautious.
Going through my portfolios placing stop losses on the few profit making ones I have got.
Have a nice day.

Just spoken to EPML about CFDS in Sipps. Can set up a separate dealing account for CFDS within the current SIPP keeping my arrangement with Squaregain for other dealing. They upgrade the account and also the fees for running the CFDs , about 350 !!!!!!! a year. The account can be terminated and the SIPPs return to old charges.
I can arrange the CFD company with my own choice.
Interesting still thinking!!!!!!! But tempted to try.

A further point about those 50 free trades Is that they have to be used up before 31st december.
Thats an average of 4.5 trades a week, which at a guess Is more then I am likely to need, therefore It's not of benefit to me.
I think It's probably aimed at some Inexperienced newcomer who thinks he/she Is going to be
A millionaire whilst daytrading his/her way to wealth.
Fred,
Having to pay Interest on suspended shares (CFD's) seems that that could prove rather expensive
and lead to uncontrollable costs, don't like the sound of that.

I think research on choice of Share will have to be more careful than at present.

Rule No1.=Safety.
Rule No2.=Safety.

Saves a lot of heartache In the long term.
