Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

VICTIM - 26 Apr 2016 17:11 - 1310 of 12628

Your brain as well , thought so .

Stan - 26 Apr 2016 17:16 - 1311 of 12628

Good bye Dick.

2517GEORGE - 26 Apr 2016 19:32 - 1312 of 12628

It would be good if we could put both sides of the argument without the sniping after all this referendum is imo far more important than a GE. There are reasons to REMAIN just as there are reasons to LEAVE if we can put those reasons in a sensible manner it would prevent this BB from disintegrating into playschool antics.

The bookmakers still seem very sure, 1 to3 that we are staying in.
Surely with odds against us leaving all the out supporters should be putting their money where their mouth is.
or perhaps this is too easy for them

Stan - 26 Apr 2016 19:45 - 1314 of 12628

Already tried that George but your rabble are not interested in doing that.. as demonstrated this morning.

grannyboy - 26 Apr 2016 20:49 - 1315 of 12628

What was the odds of the Tory's winning outright at last years GE...
What were the odds of it been a draw at last nights Spurs-WBA match?..

I could go on..

Stan - 26 Apr 2016 20:57 - 1316 of 12628

Don't bother.

Haystack - 26 Apr 2016 21:03 - 1317 of 12628

The Tories were always going to win as they will do even easier next time and UKIP were always going to lose. Spurs is more difficult to call. I say that as a Spurs supporter.

Stan - 26 Apr 2016 21:06 - 1318 of 12628

Your a Spurs supporter? and when did you actually attend one of their games then?

Haystack - 26 Apr 2016 23:22 - 1319 of 12628

I went school in Tottenham. Our rugby pitches were the other side of the stand. I have been to lots of matches. I still live in north London.

Stan - 27 Apr 2016 05:48 - 1320 of 12628

So what, what was your last game?

grannyboy - 27 Apr 2016 07:43 - 1321 of 12628

"The Tories was always going to win"

That's not what the polls said or the betting at the time!..

As to UKIP always going to lose..You must have been one of those dopes who thought UKIP was going to have an outright win...

Me being the realist that i am accepted that UKIP would'nt win a majority and so not form the next government.....

The Papers

Jeremy Corbyn’s decision to support staying in the EU is the longest suicide note in history and poses a deadly threat to the existence of the party, Frank Field, a former minister and leading out campaigner has claimed.

The Labour MP said 40% of the party’s supporters wanted Britain to leave the EU, but added that their views were being ignored in favour of a pro-EU policy that was designed to please a “London metropolitan elite”.

“The last thing Jeremy needs to do is to undermine further the traditional Labour vote, much of which wishes to leave the European Union,” he said.

“For the party leader more actively to campaign for the Remain campaign will push even more Labour voters into the arms of Ukip.”

Barack Obama's trade threat to Britain has increased support for Brexit as a string of polls show voters are ignoring the US President's claims

Pollsters said data suggests voters turned off by Obama's intervention
Sir Lynton Crosby said the Remain campaign was at risk of complacency
He said the current five point lead for the campaign to stay In may be 'soft'
But he warned Brexit campaigners to make sure they get the message out
Australian election supremo said there was still a 'marathon' to June 23

A string of opinion polls today showed voters are ignoring the hard hitting intervention of Barack Obama and support for Brexit has gone up.

In the latest poll, by ICM, the campaign to leave the EU was ahead 46 per cent to 44 per cent - with the poll showing a two point rise for Out.

A survey by ORB showed the In campaign was in front by five points but that the gap had closed markedly since last week.

Meanwhile, data produced by Sky News suggested 57 per cent of the public would not be influenced by the President's claims.

Mr Obama enraged Vote Leave supporters on Friday by claiming Britain would be sent to the 'back of the queue' for trade deals if it quit jthe EU.

The new polls came as Sir Lynton Crosby today warned the campaign to keep Britain in the EU risks becoming complacent about the referendum despite there still being a 'marathon' to polling day.

Frank Field has been a thorn in the backside of the labour party for 35+ years.

The con party tried numerous times to get him to join "their" party on numerous occasions and some were suspicious of his relationship with "Maggie".

Initially, he was a "member" of the Con party, before joining the labour party, but was more inclined to be an independent thinking member and has frequently disagreed with those around him.

Independent thinker, often out of step with his own party and failed to get the support he thought due to him.

He is another one of "Yesterday's people" out of touch and suitable fodder for the "Brexiters" cohort.

You've got some front Fred, talking about yesterdays people....lol, that's you!

Fred1new - 27 Apr 2016 09:33 - 1326 of 12628

Yes, but I realise it and not unhappy about being so.

Fred1new - 27 Apr 2016 09:37 - 1327 of 12628

Mind, I can realise what a disaster the proposal of the EU referendum is for the UK.

Congratulation to Cameron and Osborne.

Little people in big places.

Wrong playground.

Con party self-interest at its best!

Revelations that the REMAIN side are prepared to cheat to get their way.

Sounds like the Con party to me.

Perfect example.

Not moral, but what you can get away with. (Capitalism at its best.)
