you are prob right, but even POG has still not recovered its pre-Mitlov levels

brianc236 - 20 Apr 2007 11:52 - 133 of 896

The thing about IEC is that before the recent confirmation of reserves we have seen much more dramatic falls, without the intervention of Mitlov (or anyone else!)
IMO this is encouraging for the long term. However, there still could be the opportunity for you to get in sub 11 cynic.

cynic - 20 Apr 2007 12:15 - 134 of 896

not convinced i want to! ..... quite tempted yesterday out of greed and on the basis that the fall, like the previous rise, had been overdone ..... had i done so, would have just traded very quickly as i commended to blanche

blanche - 20 Apr 2007 16:52 - 135 of 896

Cynic taken on your advice on trailling stop loss many thanks8-) Would have been happy if IEC closed over 12 as i thought it was a good support level. But over 13 as they say where i come from,(come to papa) 23% up. If only it was as easy as that all the time. Have a good weekend!

cynic - 20 Apr 2007 16:59 - 136 of 896

good move ..... so volatile and totally impossible to predict next move .... sp auction close was 1320, but that is often something of a phoney price

cynic - 23 Apr 2007 10:40 - 137 of 896

blanche ..... hope you are well out and smiling en route to the bank ..... far too dangerous a share to deal if you ask me ...... feels/smells like a lot of inside info manipulating the price viciously

blanche - 23 Apr 2007 17:56 - 138 of 896

cynic RE chaco thread. Forgot to say many thanks for advice 8-)

blanche - 24 Apr 2007 08:33 - 139 of 896

Cynic this will slowly creep back up to 15 imo. Worth a punt but keep a third eye out.

cynic - 24 Apr 2007 09:40 - 140 of 896

nope ..... better to play roulette! .... why should sp "creep" anywhere as that is not its nature? ..... as a reasonable comparison, look at POG which is also 100% Russia-based ...... a really solid and sound company, yet sp has still not recovered the levels it enjoyed prior to its own unwarranted "Mitlov scare", and despite the fact that several of the major houses consider it badly undervalued, with JPM or Cazenove placing a target of 20.00.

blanche - 14 May 2007 12:55 - 141 of 896

Have brought back in again today. After last weeks crap debut and the good news out. This has got to move back up

Fill your boots time.

seawallwalker - 14 Jul 2007 23:13 - 143 of 896

The Russian Bears are coming, to an oil Company near you!!!!

Still time for a sharp exit!

cynic - 15 Jul 2007 08:31 - 144 of 896

hard to tell the reliability of SWW's press report ...... however, IEC has a history of pretty turbulent trading and if there is even a whiff of truth in that report, then the market will take speedy and draconian action ...... if the 25+50 dma supports are broken and it would not take much to do that, then sp could very easily fall to 1100 or 975 (200 dma) or even lower if selling comes in any volume.

No offical RNS. Good time to buy in.

cynic - 16 Jul 2007 08:24 - 146 of 896

only for the very very very brave or for the downright foolhardy

blanche - 16 Jul 2007 08:29 - 147 of 896

Well theres the rns. The cavalry come over the hill.

blanche - 16 Jul 2007 09:18 - 148 of 896

To think you could have brought @ 1113 now its 1183

cynic - 16 Jul 2007 09:23 - 149 of 896

to think you could have bought at 15.00 and it's now only 11.83

niceonecyril - 17 Jul 2007 10:10 - 150 of 896

You could have also bought @ 288p when i first started this thread and sold
at 15 50p+.
Out of these at the moment, not happy with the politics. I believe that the company will deliver, however i feel nervous to hold with any confidence.
Good luck to those who still hold, and the pipelines should be opened up soon?

This article in the moscow news is probably the most balanced and informative so far."

So this is really about valuation and the judge will be the London & US exchanges. A good description of comparisons wtr calculation of reserves, all in non-tech speak. It come a bit clearer when you get to...

"According to Mitvol, that data had been audited by the international oil and gas consulting company Miller and Lents between 1982 and 1987. According to Imperial's 2006 annual report, the company "began 2006 with independently reported reserves of 228 million barrels of probable reserves," which by December 2006 had increased to 802.6 million barrels. "I don't understand this difference," Mitvol says, "they did almost nothing there since they bought the blocks. They simply changed the interpretation of the data."
Plus comments regarding the source & credibility of the "new" geological survey and just to muddy the water some more suggestions of CEO selling.

Read it and make up you own mind. Nothing to say that political risks are removed but it reads to me like that "judgment" in the short term will be in London. Question is is the long term relationship damaged?

So anyone holding a 10 bagger? Of course if you shorted this at the right time you could have made a bit too. :-)

"But Mitvol is skeptical. "Look, the company today is worth 10 times more than it was only two years ago. All because of this new data interpretation. How is that possible?" he asks."
