Goodbye to 2009
Good Luck in 2010
Happy New Year ....

.... another 'hidden' tax being introduced:
ANYONE in Birmingham who places a skip on the road outside their house while carrying out work will soon have to buy a 10 permit.
http://www.birminghammail.net/news/top-stories/2009/12/31/permit-of-10-to-keep-a-skip-outside-birmingham-homes-97319-25498599/
( .... all it needs now is for those awfully nice TV Licensing people at Capita Business Services to require you to have an additional TV licence for the skip should you dispose of any rf apparatus in to it ..... )

.... but at least bus fares are staying the same:
National Express West Midlands has announced that current bus fares will be frozen for the foreseeable future.
http://www.travelwm.co.uk/news/Busfaresfrozeninto2010/615/

.... and if you need any info from the internet during 2010 then Groovle it:
A Canadian company behind a search engine called Groovle.com has won a case filed against it by online search giant Google.

Two thousand and ten? Or twenty ten?

Whichever, have a good one, all.

WEST Midland rail passengers returning to work in the New Year face delays and disruption on Britains busiest rail route.

http://www.birminghampost.net/news/west-midlands-news/2009/12/28/virgin-booking-office-railway-staff-set-to-strike-97319-25478014/

Union leader Gerry Doherty said his members were striking to defend their jobs and the booking windows service to passengers.
Virgin are just the latest of the privately owned rail companies to cut back on customer services to boost their bottom line during the recession.
We highlighted last week what it meant to passengers at one station Coventry where they had to wait 30 minutes in a 100-metre long queue just to buy a ticket. Well, that will start happening right along this busy line if management get away with these latest cutbacks.

Wonder what next .... they'll not want the high speed train proposal to proceed....

Virgin Trains warned a Commons inquiry this month that there was little point building high speed rail lines between Birmingham and London, because conventional lines could be upgraded to reduce journey times below an hour.

Hope all got home Ok last night,

Nice little bunker.

Have to have a look at the pictures.

The Company I was rabbiting on about was BTR. The warrants were volatile, but a long time dead.

Have a look at EZJ's chart and TW. jumped to-day before results.

Interesting.

We talked about another meet in 4 weeks. Checked with SWMBO. and it seems good.

Regards

Stan - 02 Mar 2010 20:39 - 1331 of 1427

Yes, Just got in -):

Easter at the end of the month so a meet up probably after.

What is the feeling on the last pub?

Fred1new - 03 Mar 2010 10:10 - 1332 of 1427

Stan,

Not too bad!

Easy to access and reasonably quiet.

What pleases me, is being able to leave a pub with the smell of beer on me and not the stench of tobacco smoke.

Look forward.

Stan - 03 Mar 2010 10:13 - 1333 of 1427

Indeed.

MightyMicro - 16 Jul 2010 00:16 - 1336 of 1427

Wouldn't be so bad if they could at least agree on what to call the bloody place.

Stan - 10 Aug 2010 17:30 - 1337 of 1427

Right ho chaps, how about a get together?

Fred1new - 11 Aug 2010 10:17 - 1338 of 1427

Which Pub?

Stan - 11 Aug 2010 10:26 - 1339 of 1427

The choice is yours.

Stan - 11 Aug 2010 11:35 - 1340 of 1427

Tried this one the other day http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/90/9012/Victoria/Birmingham

Fairly quite on a Monday, although not totally.

survived87 - 12 Aug 2010 10:09 - 1341 of 1427

Fred .... hope you enjoyed your break..... If you go to The Victoria then make sure Stan directs you to the 'good' toilets there ..... otherwise wear wellington boots ....
I'm out of circulation in Brum until early Sept (due to hols).

PS: This place is quite good for a Friday afternoon session:

Survive.

Survived.

My grandchildren have more energy than I do.

Have photos of them walking through a hot air balloon.

France is a fascinating country.

Thinking of returning in mid Sept. for a few months holiday.

Stan, how about a meeting in second week of Sept.

Prefer a different Pub.

How about the MAC, which has re-opened.

Will be in touch.

Stan - 12 Aug 2010 15:06 - 1343 of 1427

Fred,

Would be nice to see what sort of a job they have done with the place but notice that they are no longer serving real ale but only draught beer at silly prices!

See what the others say, here is the link http://www.macarts.co.uk/page/3560/Food+Drink then click on quenchers.

survived87 - 12 Aug 2010 21:07 - 1344 of 1427

The Arena Bar
The intimate Arena Bar provides a range of drinks and snacks including the return of real ale at mac Whether you want to relax after a film or grab a drink during the interval this is the place to do it

Anyone fancy Friday 3rd September (or is that too soon) luchtime'ish or after onwards

Stan - 13 Aug 2010 07:54 - 1345 of 1427

Lunchtime Sept.3rd is fine by me, but will have to take it easy as it's the Codsall Beer Festival starting at 5pm that evening!

That real ale boast by the mac needs challenging by the advertising standards people in my view -):
