Socs
I was here

Socrates - 13 May 2003 08:37 - 1339 of 23498

Yes, Jeffmack. But are you here now?

Must put the kettle on, her indoors has just left for London so I'm self catering today.

jeffmack - 13 May 2003 09:08 - 1340 of 23498

I am here

Socrates - 13 May 2003 09:23 - 1341 of 23498

No Jeffmack, I am here, you must be somewhere else. LOL I'd better put a another cup out then. Unless you are a coffee drinker, then you can make your own.

What are you watching today, I'm having a look at Avon Rubber? I want a couple of solid companies with good yield and no excitement. Avon looks like a good candidate.

hilary - 13 May 2003 09:51 - 1342 of 23498

I am here too.

Socrates - 13 May 2003 10:16 - 1343 of 23498

Hello Hilary, bit quiet on the markets this week isn't it. I thought I'd enjoy a relaxing week watching all the action and it's all very quiet.

little willie - 13 May 2003 11:44 - 1344 of 23498

I'm not here, more sort of there, any good to you Forks. Being a banker Jeff's
here, there and everywhere 'as the Beatles' sang.
Beware of Avon rubber Forks as they'll catch you on the bounce AND with Mrs.Fork-Sox away; if the mice play [?] then, be warned, that even Avon wotsits have been known to burst...

Thought no-one was there [or here as the case maybe], seems like there's a lunchtime rush on, can the cafe handle it?

Mrs.lw gone to golf [ladies day], we spent the a.m. in Cape Town, lovely sunny clear day etc.....lw

hilary - 13 May 2003 11:47 - 1345 of 23498

Saint Willie,

Hurry up and get that new house of yours built! I might be coming to stay.

:-)

Socrates - 13 May 2003 11:49 - 1346 of 23498

lw
I can handle it!

How's life out there? I have relatives near Jo'burg and they sleep with a machine gun on the mantlepiece and a twelve foot wall topped with razor wire around the house. Quite put me off it did.

Can you get a decent snorker out there or is it all antelope sausages?

hilary - 13 May 2003 11:54 - 1347 of 23498

Socs,

We have to do the same thing here at Mandela House in Peckham.

Socrates - 13 May 2003 12:35 - 1348 of 23498

Hilary
Are we talking antelope sausages or machine guns and razor wire? Knowing Peckham I suspect it's the latter.

hilary - 13 May 2003 12:42 - 1349 of 23498

I was thinking of the latter two, but, now you come to mention it, there was a chap selling antelope sausages from the back of his yellow Robin Reliant only the other day.

Btw, have heard that they're removing the word "gullible" from the new edition of the Oxford English Dictionary?

Socrates - 13 May 2003 12:44 - 1350 of 23498

Gullible, well I believe you if you say so!

little willie - 13 May 2003 15:28 - 1351 of 23498

Minxie, I'll start on the bedroom tommorrow in that case. At the mo. meeting architects and planning. Hope to appoint the man for the job next week, complete on the land sale end of month, get plans through local authority and start to build at the end of the winter,[late autumn at moment 27degrees] probably Sept/Oct with completion 5-6 months later.
From then on you'll be very welcome to take part in littlewillies african adventures in wonderland, although,of course; like all good african things there will be an initiation ceremony.

Socs, have lovely snorkers here [uk style] although not upto 'old spot' standards, they are excellent. Can also get Kudu, impala, springbok, gemspok and several other types with an afrikaan conatation in them; some exceedingly spicy.
Our Golf & Country Estate has great security and we aren't in a hotspot such as Jo'burg, very peaceful and beautiful wine area, everyone here have huge smiles and when they wish you 'a good day' they mean it so no orders for a Kalashnikov or like.

Re dictionary and correctness, anyone had 'spotted richard' lately*?......

*Not to be answered by Minxie.

hilary - 13 May 2003 15:57 - 1352 of 23498

See if you can whizz things along a bit with the house please, Saint Willie.

My Sowt Aaaaafricaaan girl friend needs to get married a bit sharpish else she'll be turfed out of the UK together with her 3 month old baby. If things go to plan, the Passport Office will extend her passport for a bit longer and we can all visit Sowt Aaaaafricaaa next year for the wedding. Otherwise, it's Fulham Register Office ....... and quick!

Socrates - 13 May 2003 18:35 - 1353 of 23498

What was todays US day off for, anyone know?

hightone - 13 May 2003 22:06 - 1354 of 23498

wehy hey we have a cafe full the drinks are on me line them up and shoot em down.

HT.

Socrates - 14 May 2003 10:08 - 1355 of 23498

Good morning one and all. Another fine and blustery day here in Cheltenham. Her indoors arrived back home safe and sound from the great smoke and loaded with postcards and books from our premier museums and art galleries. Her trains ran on time, unlike the tele programme last night where they didn't run at all. Talk about prophets of doom!

Markets a bit slow again today but seems to be staging a small comeback after the initial fall. I guess they are waiting on the US markets to gain some direction.

Are there any candlesticks experts here, I am interested in learning a bit more because what I have seen is quite quite fascinating. (Sad isn't it, but I used to do extra maths problems at school just for fun.)

jeffmack - 14 May 2003 10:51 - 1356 of 23498

Talking about candles, you need sound effects for this joke, but what the hell

Mother superior goues into the nuns dorm at night and announces 'Candles out girls' You then need to make that plopping noise by putting your finger in your mouth against the inside of your cheek, puff up your cheek and .....plop

Socrates - 14 May 2003 10:57 - 1357 of 23498

Sorry Jeffmack, you are going to have to explain that one to poor little innocent me. How's the banking business going, is it time to buy bank stocks yet? Oh, look at the time. Must go and put the kettle on!
