Galleon Holdings (GON)

banjomick - 15 Jun 2004 08:48

INTELLIGENT INVESTING WITH BANJO,well sort of! (Ed-hmmmm-lol)

Galleon Holdings plc has three key divisions:Galleon Entertainment for entertainment type IP,Croco Worldwide for product IP,Phoenix for interactive TV services for broadcasters in China/South East Asia which includes Robot Information Technology (Lushy Assets ('Yunbo')) who are a wireless interactive platform service provider in China who will work alongside Phoenix to enable GON to hold on to a greater part of the generated revenue and so increase the profit margin......think that's the plan! :-)

This makes Galleon Holdings a 'One Stop Shop' to develop and complete new and existing IP's.

A bit of background info:

Just had a quick look at Cellcast (CLTV) where Mahesh Ramachandra,GON's global director of entertainment used to belong and for whatever reason he left,I think he made the right decission.

He must have been with CLTV for about 2 years and had a lot to do with the formation of 'Sumo TV' from what I can gather which is still going strong.Anyway,a repeat of this article is worthy, imo:

Mahesh Ramachandra joins GON

There has to be more to this Dragonfruit Studios (not to be confused with Dragonfruit Studio) deal me thinks!

"Dragonfruit was launched in January 2008 by Michael Koziol and Melissa Honabach, who previously founded interactive agency Ant Farm Interactive in 1999, which they sold to Nurun, a publicly traded (TSX) global interactive agency, in 2004. Nurun was subsequently acquired by Quebecor Media. The principals are widely recognised for their expertise in digital media and marketing, new and emerging media models, and advising leading global brands on the new media landscape. During their tenure at Ant Farm Interactive and Nurun, they advised a wide range of clients, including: AT&T, AutoTrader.com, Equifax, L'Oreal, Unilever, Evian, The Home Depot, Bombardier Recreational Products, Frontier Airlines, and many others."

"Dragonfruit has licensed the exploitation rights to Galleon's entertainment properties, Super Soccer Star and Apollo's Pad. Under the terms of the deal Dragonfruit will pay an initial fee of US $1million and royalties on future earnings."

It goes without saying that Michael Koziol and Melissa Honabach are key players in their line of work gained from my research and what I've posted recently.

An initial fee of $1million for SSS and AP is either a big gamble, they know the potential gains or there is more work coming Dragonfruit's way in the future. The royalty percentage would be of great interest too but doubt I will get to know that one.

It's all very exciting stuff,in my humbly opinion of course.

banjomick - 25 Sep 2008 23:00 - 1360 of 1609

Hmmm,I know this is the old one but the Apollo's Pad website is down......I was just going to say how long will it be before we see the Dragonfruit influence?

Maybe not tonight as it's more likely months but it will be of great interest to me, anyway in seeing if AP changes but keeping the same interactive format......

Edit-AP is back again,I've probably put 'em off :-)

banjomick - 25 Sep 2008 23:18 - 1361 of 1609

oooooooo,'Family Guy' is on but and I may have said this before.......are we or could we see a big push into the USA to try and teach them how exciting football can be and more to the point how much money is involved on a global scale!

I haven't looked but is it possible the major UK teams,as Chelsea are doing in Asia, are getting ready to hit the USA again to push this sport (money machine) forward?

Have Dragonfruit seen this opportunity and bagged SSS with a very good possibility of encorporating Sokator-442 to compliment the increased exposure thus incurred, could even then send the whole package now revitalised to China/SEA to compound on the sucess already gained in this region from SSS ................maybe total wayward thinking on my part perhaps but there you go!

banjomick - 30 Sep 2008 01:00 - 1370 of 1609

The above is all great news for moving the brand IE 'Super Soccer Star' forward and building on the success of the first series.

What does excite me (Ed-steady there,Mick) is Dragonfruit Studios with two people at the helm who specialise in advertising and branding especially via the internet and they don't even have a website of their own,as yet!

Dragonfruit Studios was only born in January of this year but in this business that's a long time! They maybe using the 'Wispa' approach but what I think we will see is something rather special when they choose to show their wares and who they are involved with within a webpage.........just a guess though.

banjomick - 01 Oct 2008 14:53 - 1371 of 1609

Good to see a bit of blue here, still got a bit of catching up to do though.

MIPCOM starts on the 13th of this month which will be interesting now that GON are building up a variety of shows.

banjomick - 01 Oct 2008 21:02 - 1372 of 1609

Spoke to soon there,I see!

Anyway,

BLE 08: Galleon seeking further licensees

Samantha Loveday Oct 2 2008, 12:33pm

Skunk Fu and Apollo's Pad shown to industry at two day event.
Galleon Entertainment has made its animated kids property Skunk Fu and its young adult multi-format property Apollo's Pad available to licensees.

The Skunk Fu franchise has already been a hit in key territories, with the toy lines due to roll out in the UK and US in 2009. In addition, last month Dragonfruit Studios in the US licensed the exploitation rights to Apollo's Pad. The deal is to generate broader distribution across global digital entertainment networks, brand integration with the property, characters and music videos, plus to grow the property's community.

Apollo's Pad is a series of over 100 webisodes set in the fictional Apollo's Pad nightclub, with a cast of characters modelled after different musical genres. The series takes classic music tracks and adds humour and animation.

Skunk Fu, meanwhile, launched on BBC1 in July 2007, premiering in the US in September of the same year. The licensed merchandise began to roll out last year with home entertainment giant Warner Music Group signing the first UK DVD licensing deal.

Re Post 1371 and Mipcom:

I posted this in the header a few days ago but thought it wise to post that GON,Galleon Holdings or Galleon Entertainment don't appear to be exhibiting this year but I'm sure they are attending!

As it points out in the header Planet Nemo,Xilam and Cake Entertainment are exhibiting.
