Desire Petroleum are drilling in Falklands (DES)

free hit countersDesire Petroleum

<>Desire Petroleum plc (Desire) is a UK company listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) dedicated to exploring for oil and gas in the North Falkland Basin.

Desire has recently completed a 6 well exploration programme. The Liz well encountered dry gas and gas condensate at 2 separate levels while other wells recorded shows.
Together with the Rockhopper Exploration Sea Lion oil discovery in the licence to the north, these wells have provided significant encouragement for the potential of the North Falkland Basin. The oil at Sea Lion is of particular interest as this has demonstrated that oil is trapped in potentially significant quantities in a fan sandstone on the east flank of the basin. It is believed that over 50% of this east flank play fairway is on Desire operated acreage.

Desire has now completed new 3D seismic acquisition which provides coverage over the east flank play, Ann, Pam and Helen prospects. The results from fast-track processing of priority areas are provided in the 2011 CPR. A farm-out to Rockhopper has been announced. The revised equities are shown on the licence map (subject to regulatory approval and completion of the farm-in well).

Oil doing nicely

eddieshare - 13 Jun 2005 20:39 - 1368 of 6492

Hi all

Thanks for the updates, very interesting.

Today DES went down a little, volume again not very high. The candles are still following the support line that is forming. The 10 day moving average is moving further away up from the 20 DMA. The next moving average DES has to go through is the 60 DMA. By Friday this moving average will be at about 0.3750p, I think DES should go through this (candles on top of the MA). The next move should be the 20 DMA should pass through the 60 DMA, this will give us a golden cross. This is regarded as a good buying indicator. Then crossing the 200 DMA (candles on top of the 200 DMA) should give DES another boost. Blue sky's the limit after that !

2 nice charts for Lynnzal and Eddie. Keep up the good work.

North falklands basin area. DESIRE + Rockhopper
http://buoyweather.com/wxnav.jsp?region=AR&program=nww3BW1&grb=nww3&latitude=-51.0&longitude=-58.75&zone=-4&units=e

South Falklands
FOGL + Borders.

http://buoyweather.com/wxnav.jsp?region=AR&program=nww3BW1&grb=nww3&latitude=-53.0&longitude=-57.5&zone=-4&units=e

Waves 10ft and above make for very, very poor seismic data quality. IMHO.

lynnzal - 14 Jun 2005 14:07 - 1371 of 6492

Thanks for the info Capt!
Having looked at your charts I know where I would rather be...things certainly look calmer in NFB, as reflected by the share price? Nudging important resistance areas now in the 38.5/41.5p area, with a nice near-term bull channel developing (support in the 35.5p/34.0p area - rising trendline/7 Jun higher low).

markymar - 14 Jun 2005 15:29 - 1372 of 6492

Hi all,

Bulls well in charge glad i popped home now, but will we see 40p

Captguns - 14 Jun 2005 15:33 - 1373 of 6492

I think the bull channel will run into Calagry.
There is a bit of a round up going on there next week.
Bound to be some "Texas Longhorn's" there as well, but I do feel the
ex-Clyde "Aberdeen Angus" will take the prize.

I'm rather hoping for a bit of a stampede myself.

markymar - 14 Jun 2005 16:15 - 1374 of 6492

I feel your right Capt i have that buzzing feeling.

ruddyy - 14 Jun 2005 17:12 - 1376 of 6492

Cheers Eddie/lynnzal. I hear it's pretty hot over Calgary way Capt. at the moment. Nothing like a bit of stampeding to raise the temperature over there even more. I see BP have said today that there wasn't enough oil found last year...news item on 3i and Marky, quick tip for a good night's sleep, so you don't go a wondering...drink 9 bottles of nuki brown instead of 10.lol

Marky....you've got mail

eddieshare - 14 Jun 2005 21:06 - 1378 of 6492

Hi all

Thanks to all the posters, all is looking good !

I have included the 60 day moving average on todays chart instead of the 200 DMA. As you can see DES has gone through the 60 DMA. This is great, DES just needs to keep on the top side & we'll soon go through the 200 DMA. Each MA DES goes through will just bring in more bulls. Thats not to say the bears will have gone completley. Just a small falling window to go through at 0.4150p, DES will be well on the way up. It could be a bit much to think it could be tomorrow, but not impossible ! News of a rig could easily do the trick !

The Peak Group Wins Major Contract for Falklands
The Peak Group 6/14/2005
URL: http://www.rigzone.com/news/article.asp?a_id=23161
The Peak Group has secured a major contract with Desire Petroleum and Rockhopper Exploration for the well design and drilling project management of a planned three well program in the North Falkland Islands basin.

The contract will involve The Peak Group delivering a complete well project management service for Desire. This will include detailed well and test design, tendering and contracting for all services and execution of the drilling program including materials and logistics.

Bob Lyons, managing director of Peak Well Management, The Peak Group's well management division, Desire chairman Dr. Colin Phipps and Desire chief executive officer Dr. Ian Duncan have visited the Falklands to discuss plans for the drilling campaign with the Falklands Islands Government and key local residents.

Mr. Lyons said: "Peak has a major plan of activity this year, including the delivery of approximately 30 wells worldwide, and we are continually looking to expand our activity in the international market. This is an extremely significant contract for us. It is our first opportunity to work with Desire Petroleum plc and our first project in the Falklands Islands.

"The project is taking place in a remote location and requires meticulous planning and execution. Nothing can be left to chance and a safe pair of hands is essential."

Dr. Duncan said: "This campaign is an important investment for Desire. We selected Peak for its proven well delivery process, track record of high performance well construction and its special experience of dealing with the regulatory authorities.

"Peak has the expertise and worldwide experience to deliver this operation in a safe and cost-effective manner. The appointment of The Peak Group, and the visit to the Falklands, continues the progress for the resumption of drilling in the area."

lynnzal - 15 Jun 2005 08:28 - 1382 of 6492

Anyone notice how british bulls 'buy if' became a long position at 36.25p (13 Jun close) despite having to wait for confirmation at yesterday's (14 Jun)close? I don't knock their automated candlestick chart analysis because it is good. But, their accounting is somewhat dubious...

Next stop 41.5p, then 200-day MA at 43p and significant resistance at 48p.
