MEDICAL MARKETING, A Speculative Punt That Might Reap Rich Rewards (MMG)

goldfinger - 01 Sep 2004 15:33

This ones a heck of a specualive investment but it seems that the institutions are willing to stomp up the cash to back it in the long term.

Heres the latest news from Killik stocbrokers on the company..........

MEDICAL MARKETING Joint Venture

We recently highlighted Medical Marketing (MMG) as worthy of attention. The company, in which I have a personal share holding, has this morning announced the formation of a joint venture, Genvax, to develop a novel DNA vaccine platform technology.

Human trials have been underway since 2001 in areas such as Lymphoma and Myeloma but the technology has broad applications in cancer, viral and bacterial infections (hence the term platform). The technology works on boosting the immune system by teaching it to identify hard to recognise cancer proteins as foreign and destroy them. Early results from the 25 patient trial in lymphoma are encouraging and evaluation of the result is expected by March 2005. Successful results should mean big pharmaceutical groups will start to take financial and commercial interests around that time.

This looks to be the first of a series of announcements due from Medical Marketing as it has a range of predominantly cancer trials moving into the clinical stage. (news flow could push the price higher)

The stock has made good progress in recent sessions up to the mid-80p level where the company is valued at just under 40 million. ENDS.

Please DYOR

cheers GF.

From the other place. Some good postings today. Makes a change, although the guys that post on MMG are good and sensible.

Michael Walters says in his site that there will certainly not be any price sensitive new information issued in tomorrow's presentation, and he does seem to to talk to David Best a lot. So we shouldn't build up expectations. However the shares may still get propelled upwards from a wider media knowledge about what is going on.

It is very clear to me, from a close study of the Walter's articles and some emails from Mr Best, that Genvax could be a huge breakthrough in cancer treatment. And yet the press do not seem to have picked up even a whiff of this excitement.

There is only a relatively small number of people aware of the superb potential here and it demonstrates to me, again, the value of sensible buletin board discussion that we often get on here. The presentations will inevitably have to be cautious at this stage but if the press can get a sense of Best's enthusiasm and see through to the underlying message in the test results then we could see quite a dramatic re-rating of the shares.

At first sight, Benny's predictions do look somewhat extravagant, but if everything goes well I think he could be right.

Nothing can be certain in this sector of investment and there have indeed been numerous disappointments with late stage drug trials in the past. "They said the same thing about British Biotech" is often heard from the sceptics. But one day a company will hit the jackpot and imho, MMG looks like one of the likliest candidates to do just this.

If anyone's shorting these they are going to get stuffed.

So we are talking early May again for Ruthenium results. Ah whats in a few days, no problem.

For MMG to put out a RNS re- to the Broadcast makes me feel that there could be some price sensitive information even if its not on the ruthenium.

cheers GF.

mitzy - 25 Apr 2005 10:28 - 1370 of 2444

Well its finally broken out of the 170p to 200p level and I expect further rises to 240p if Tuesdays news is positive.

goldfinger - 25 Apr 2005 10:32 - 1371 of 2444

One as to ask why put out a RNS if theres going to be no price sensitive information?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????.

They could just bang it on their web site that the presentation is going to be made.

Anyway I see the price is rocking on now. Taking all those profits of Evils away the nearer it gets to 250p.

cheers GF.

Another move up, a sea of blue, NICE.

He's too canny to get caught on this one. I expect he's reversed his position.

mitzy - 25 Apr 2005 11:09 - 1374 of 2444

I would have thought he closed a week ago or else he has lost a bundle.
Notice the 50K T trade a shorter closing perhaps.

goldfinger - 25 Apr 2005 12:13 - 1375 of 2444

Might be Evil getting rid of his last few.

cheers GF.

mickeyskint - 25 Apr 2005 12:19 - 1376 of 2444

If this goes back up to 250+ do you think the shorters will return?

MS

mitzy - 25 Apr 2005 12:28 - 1377 of 2444

I suspect that buyers will return as the sp steadily increases to 240p and that there will be new buyers coming in pushing the sp back to 300p.

mickeyskint - 25 Apr 2005 14:08 - 1378 of 2444

mitzy what would your realistic price estimate be if a big pharma did move in.

goldfinger - 25 Apr 2005 14:59 - 1379 of 2444

Gone in again at 211p.

cheers GF.

goldfinger - 25 Apr 2005 15:11 - 1380 of 2444

No news from Evil K on MMG although the short still shows on his shorting list. Silence from him usually means things are going against him and hes certainly well down on his second tranche which I think he sold in the 170s. His first one was sold at around 250p and he was 200k up a few weeks back. Foolish for him to stay in much longer.

cheers GF.

Pete168 - 25 Apr 2005 15:27 - 1381 of 2444

MMG don't need a big pharma for Genvax as the supposed 6/7 clinical trials will be sponsored by charities. This means they can get better value in that they can get further through the clinic.
Would expect a licence agrrement on NHL Lymphoma first as this has completed successful phaseII.
MMG would like a big pharma on board for RU and might be playing one against the other in licencing deal.
Bearing in mind the recent high profile failures from the big pharmas, I would imagine the competition to sign up is pretty hot.

Mr Best said recently that recent single cancer drugs in P2 have been signed by big pharmas at between $500m and $2bn. For a multi platform it will be many multiples.

Valuation is too silly to print but I'm sure you can figure it out.

goldfinger - 25 Apr 2005 15:46 - 1382 of 2444

Interesting slant Pete on Genvax. Anyway its going up whoever takes the parts forward.

cheers GF.

ateeq180 - 25 Apr 2005 16:41 - 1383 of 2444

GOLDFINGER whats your opinion about tomorrow, which way this stock will open, just another thought.

goldfinger - 25 Apr 2005 16:50 - 1384 of 2444

Well the way the Dows going up 80 plus at the moment I would say up for sure. Mind nothings certain in life. Im looking for around 250p to 300p for the Ruthenium post results (dont know if we will get them tomorrow). I hope people dont forget to lock in some profits this time. Last time I remember a few here highly dissapointed because they hadnt done that. 'Lop the top' off your holding when you are satisfied that you have made a nice profit, because beleive me others will. You dont have to sell them all and if things go to plan we will see them rise again.

cheers GF.
