rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

sticky - we've had our moments but for all that, have a great time over Christmas ..... for us? .... well, we're already at our usual cosy and relaxed watering hole near bath (and balerboy aka emu) which we have now come to for the last 23/24 years, and as usual, the children and now grandchildren are joining us
fred would hate it here as it's far too bourgeois ....... I'm not even sure that the gurniad is included in the selection of daily papers, unless it's used for lighting the log fire

It really is the old shrivelled Manuel in his handed down day wear still wishing for the "old days and rules".

I sometime think it is a pity that the French didn't finish off the job they started in the late 1700s.

cynic,
Have you filched XMAS as well.
But, I don't think I would enjoy your company.
Prefer that of my own extensive family and friends.
As a friend said to me, enjoy the season,, it may be your last!

6770 by the end of Jan would be nice as my AVc matures then and buys part of my pension. So, onwards and upwards please!

Tomasz - clearly no one ever taught you that gloating ill becomes anyone.... however, I'm afraid that like any obit for me you may have been considering, it is more than a little premature as my portfolio, even for this year, is no more than a bit bruised ...... fromage dur, and i shall be equally sad to hear if you roof develops a leak or your drains overflow

There is no justice in this world.
Skinny.
6800 and back.
A little cash in hand, wondering if there will be a slight drop back. Like a little nibble to take me into the new year.
