rather than pick out individual stocks to trade, it can often be worthwhile to trade the indices themselves, especially in times of high volatility.
for those so inclined, i attach below charts for FTSE and FTSE 250, though one might equally be tempted to trade Dow or S&P, which is significantly broader in its coverage, or even NASDAQ
for ease of reading, i have attached 1 year and 3 month charts in each instance

shortie - tomasz gibbers away pretty much on his own on the ASOS thread ..... much of the time he likes to pretend that he only speaks pidgin English, and it is pretty rare for his posts to make much if any sense ...... indeed, even on ASOS, it is unclear (for what it is worth) what if any positions he holds at any one time ...... like fred, but for different reasons, i ignore him >97% of the time

I could well lose a little money on the FTSE, no real problem considering I also play S&P, DOW, DAX, GBP/JPY, EUR/GBP, GBP/USD, GBP/CHF and have various long / short positions on equities also... How you can call anyone a loser is beyond me when you don't have an clue what positions we're running in the first place. If you want centre stage thats fine too, why don't you start your own thread called just that...?

Maybe in the New Year if you ask nicely, I'll show you what I short on. Not a fundamental bull move I assure you!! On another matter I find it rather disturbing that you have to post abuse to anyone with a different view to you or thats taken a different position. There's no need for it. Your long FTSE, thats great, maybe post your technicals and how far you think it'll go and leave it at that.

No view on gold at the moment Jimmy, lets see if we have support at current levels and if it'll hold. I am however more bullish on silver but haven't yet taken a position.
