How to profit from Betting Exchanges (BEX)

How would you like to trade a market where you get large regular price swings every 10 minutes in the afternoon, seven days a week. A
market where all prices are set purely by supply and demand, few transaction costs, no middle men and you only pay commission if you win? Where you can freely act as a market maker and where you have direct market access and where you can create a spread for others to take?

Betfair has revolutionised the betting market and created an open platform for exchanging risk on sports events. This market is now viewed much more like a traditional financial risk market than an old fashioned betting market. Smart users have realised that there are huge opportunities on Betfair because they can buy and sell risk in much the same way they would in a normal financial market but without the burden of cost or the restricted access that is usually associated with traditional financial markets.

Hi everyone,
This is my first post as I only found this thread several days ago. Downloaded the excellent slide show from the masters site (thanks peter/scrip ---------- great introduction).
My first question is for Fundamentalist -------- how do you come to 60.21 ???
(Scott from 34.0 you could now lay off at 5.7. If you were to green up you would make 60.21 for every 10 you staked on him.) should it not be 49.65
If this is wrong Fundy. (Please accept this novice apoliges in advance )

Harlosh - 26 Feb 2005 12:44 - 1385 of 10502

Looking at the Arsenal match Fundy. Not going in til I see what deveops though.

Fundamentalist - 26 Feb 2005 13:22 - 1386 of 10502

beautiful drifting favourite in the first at lingfield - layed at 1.91 backed at 2.56

Fundamentalist - 26 Feb 2005 13:39 - 1387 of 10502

Scrip

hope Prutton isnt central to your survival hopes - dont think you'll be seeing much more of him this season! its a mad tackle in a nothing area when already booked - having been sent off pushing the ref and trying to get at the linesman not wise.

Edit - compounded by the goal -im now green

DocProc - 26 Feb 2005 13:46 - 1388 of 10502

Anyone using any products from http://www.bettingbots.com ?

Fundamentalist - 26 Feb 2005 14:01 - 1389 of 10502

Theres some real footballer brains on show today - first prutton now van persie. arsenal are now without any attackers or attacking midfielders bar henry and ljundberg for a few weeks now

stuartreece - 26 Feb 2005 14:08 - 1390 of 10502

Hi everybody

Was on the course on Wednesday and have just "greened up" for the first time ever. Beside myself with contentment even though its only a fiver.

Scrip I'd buy you a drink if I wasn't so tight!

Fundamentalist - 26 Feb 2005 14:09 - 1391 of 10502

Stuart

congrats - the first of many no doubt

Fundamentalist - 26 Feb 2005 14:41 - 1392 of 10502

Scrip

i dare say you'll be happier with a point lol - second half has seen your keeper make 4 great saves and ours make one blunder

Fundamentalist - 26 Feb 2005 14:43 - 1393 of 10502

arsenal "scored" with last kick of the game but cole adjudged offside - would have been some worried layers

bakko - 26 Feb 2005 15:03 - 1394 of 10502

Afternoon to everyone,

Just managed to get online. I've had to reconnect and reconfigure an old PC. What a headache!

I've noticed quite a few additions to this thread so a warm welcome from me.

I've also noticed that the guy on the Baffleball box looks remarkably like Scrip!

KeithB - 26 Feb 2005 18:02 - 1395 of 10502

Spent two days in bed following a visit to my Physio who seems to have wrecked the other side of my knee.
However it gave me an excellent opportunity to try out the racing and football trades. I managed to green up on all the football and most of the racing. After a panic trying to cover a loss, remembered to let the loss run and lo and behold it disappeared as Scrip indicated.
Still haven't got myself thinking in ticks yet so limited my stakes to 20 each.
Net after two days +15
So I hope this start is a good omen for the future.
Off to Capetown tomorrow to join a cruise so will be back in a couple of weeks

chartist2004 - 26 Feb 2005 18:12 - 1396 of 10502

Anyone back Wales @ 15:1 or the drew @ 175:1! later fell to 8.8 to lay
Be good if Portsmouth could 1-1 at odds @ 85:1..
